Anyone knows a cheap, but good microphone (for PC and camcorder)

1. Looking for a standalone microphone for my PC. Preferably USB.

Anyone any insight?

2. Anyone knows a wireless microphone that I can use with my camcorder? (camcorder has a normal 3.5mm jack)

If the wireless microphone can be use with the PC as well, even better.

What’s your approximate budget? I don’t have much personal experience, but I’ve read up a bit on the subject.

Sorry, no advice, but I’m interested too

Budget depends on the application. The wireless one up to about $30+?

The standalone USB mic for about $10-$15?

Just wondering what is out there without spending money on something that isnt worth it.

The most famous one I’ve heard of for high quality podcasting and the like costs about $50:

That’s not to say there aren’t decent options for less, but I haven’t heard much about them.

Ok, good to know. I was just reading some reviews (not sure if they are trustworthy) about the fifine k058 (not sure who invented that name) which is about 26usd.

Do you know anything about an affordable but good wireless mic..?

Panasonic WM61a, piece of wire and a plug.

Blue Snowball Ice is the same as the snowball, but it is locked in cardioid mode and a couple bucks cheaper, while the non-ice version offers a –10db mode and omnidirectional mode. Cardioid is the standard most used mode. I have also heard good things of the Samson Meteor. You’re gonna have to dig to find something any decent in the 10 to 15 range. At that price point you may be better off using a 3.5mm lavalier mic or clip-on mic.

I have 0 knowledge on wireless mics sorry.

You mean, I just need to attach that to a 3.5mm plug and a cord, and that`s it? Not sure if that will work on my pc, which has a mic/audio two-in-one jack so to say.

Sure enough. that`s why Im asking, maybe there are some "Convoys" out there (so to say), that are really good value for the money.

Exactly. I build 2 of those. Works flawless. For 2 in 1 you need to know what pin is used for mic. No worry if mistaken, you can’t break it. It will just not work.

Ah, I hate those. Lenovo I imagine? In that case, you’ll also want to look into a cheap USB sound card with 3.5mm input and output jacks. Anything will do, and at least for that part there’s probably no reason to spend more than about $5. And the advantage of a USB sound card is that you won’t have the line hiss and electrical circuit noise that is often present with an integrated mic jack.

Just saw them at eBay for really cheap, but they might be counterfeit. Do you know a reliable source?

Edit: Just reconsidered and decided not going the DIY route for the moment.

Good point, I currently use the built-in mic of my PC (actually a laptop), HP 15, but the sound is just horrible. I do have some earphones that came with a Medion tablet that has a built-in microphone, but don`t like it to be shown on camera that way.

The best cheap 3.5 mm jack micro for gamers is the Zalman ZM-MIC1. It easily beats any microphone in headsets under $120.

I never used it for anything else than speech but for $8 you could just try it without regrets.

That is what I was looking for. Something that is a "convoy" in the microphone world :)

Works perfect.

Looks good!

Proper USB microphones are expensive at around 10x your budget.

Blue Yeti USB $100
Røde NT-USB $169

The Blue Snowball USB stands out at $40.

I’d get a lavalier mic clipped close to your audio source (the closer it is, the lower the gain, and thus lower noise and cleaner sound) with a headphone/mic splitter for your laptop.
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-headsets-separate-headphone-microphone/dp/B004SP0WAQ

For your camcorder, you can use the lavalier mic and headphone/mic splitter combo with your phone to record audio and combine it back.

Check out wireless lavalier mics as well.

Yeah, thats what I thought. Ordered a Neewer lavalier mic last night, after watching a few reviews of the Zalman mentioned by Tbone. See how they go. The problem I had with my camcorder that it didnt work with my old (and gone) headset mic.

I already have a Canon DM50 boom mic for my camcorder, but don't like the sound of it indoors, it picks up a lot of other sounds. A wireless mic would do the trick I hoped. Still not sure if I want to invest in it.. I just need something that is good and cheap.
