Highest Lumen High Quality Flood Light??

I really appreciate all of you sharing your knowledge on this site. I have learned a lot in the last couple of weeks since I found this site.

I really want the Imalent DX80, but every time I pull out the credit card to buy it I re-read the DX80 discussion on here and put the card back in my wallet.

I am looking for a flood. Excluding the DX80 what is the highest lumen flood light that you would consider high quality or at least pretty darn dependable. Is it the Acebeam X80? It seems like I have seen some people question the quality of the X80.

Are there any others close to the lumens of the X80 and DX80?

Thank you.

In the 10 000 - 12 000 lumen flood range I would look at the Haikelite MT03 and the Astrolux MF01

The Haikelite MT09R is coming up

Martin has an upcoming light - Astrolux MF03

I have an Imalent DX 80, the light has had no issues but I did get one with a bad charger that was replaced at no charge.

If you are in no rush, I would wait for reviews of the MF03 and the MT09R. Also, Shot Show 2018 is this week and there could be lots of new lights announced

Thanks for the advice. Those were on my list, but I didn’t know if they were considered quality lights.

I signed up for the MT09R on the group buy, but otherwise I am not in a hurry, so I will keep an eye on the other ones you mention.

I didn’t know they announced that type of stuff at Shot Show. Good to know.

I think the BEST quality is the last TN36 it pulls “only” 11k lumens but thrunite have the most solid light

The only problem of that light is the heat, I think thrunite must matter more for heat sink and minus in desing on those high lumens lights

my DX80 works great, and its the most powerful flooder i have ever seen, handled, or owned.

I second the MF-01. (18 XP-G3 or Nichia 219Cs) 12k lm 2m burst with Cree, 9k lm 2m burst with Nichia.

Another alternative is the Olight x7 Marauder. 9k lm burst for 2.5m (3 XHP 70 LEDs = to 12 Cree XM-L2 emitters)

The MF-01 will have a little more range vs flood.

The x7 Will have more flood than the MF-01 but a little less range.

Realistically, the practical lumens is roughly 5 to 5.5k for both lights.

Lights beyond said lumens will be only useful for a quick burst of light.

Acebeam X45, only a measly 14000lumens OTF…. 16500lumens rated.

If you want more than short bursts, the Imolent DX80 can do 7000 lumens for 2 hours. I think that’s the most of any current flooder?

Looks like it. The price at $300.00 is a downer. 5k to 7k would be only a slight improvement for the money.

OP - Have you checked out the new Haikelite?

Thanks a lot for everyone’s comments. I will look into all these.

Your comments have me considering the DX80 again though.

The DX80 defiantly rules them all in lumens. The thing that I don’t like about it is the proprietary battery. When it goes south, I seriously doubt there will be fresh replacement battery packs on the shelf a year or two down the road. I’d rather have the ability to manually replace individual 18650 cells.

Okay. Thanks. Good point on the battery. I had forgotten about that over the time I have been looking at it.

Yeah. I think it would have been much better for them to use two 18650 cages considering the size of the thing, like the Giggles light uses.

They are just standard high-drain 18650 cells they use fortunately, and when in need of replacement anyone with modding abilities can replace them.

Dont forget the high numbres of faulty or DOA lights of imalent…….

The first intention in OP was quality I think the Olight X7 and specially tn36 fits this category much better!

This is true. It most likely is spot welded battery tabs. I’m going to guess having a spot welder is a requirement rather then trying to solder a bunch of cells together.

I have had all the brightest flashlights as they have come out including the olight X7, acebeam x45 and the imalent dx80. No flashlight is perfect and if the dx80 were perfect it would have Moonlight mode and perhaps a little more texture on the handle but heck that is getting nitpicky. I absolutely love the dx80 and haven’t had any issues and I have even washed it. Charger has been ok too but note that is on 240 volts. I am not scared of a bit of DIY so if I cannot get a replacement battery pack I will happily replace the batteries and solder in new ones. I cannot see this being an issue and this battery pack should last at least four or five years considering I wouldn’t do a charge cycle more than every few weeks.

MF01 is a good start, I made custom drivers for it

120-140W buck driver which always has max brightness down to LVP of the cells

Concerning the battery pack in the DX80, I will make the prediction that we will NEVER see a BIG lumen light with anything other than a battery pack. Cell carriers, no matter how high the quality, can not handle the current.
