G6 stainless now in xml

Uniquefire G6 SS Xml

If you're going to put an XM-L in a stainless steel light, drive it very gently or there will be heat problems. I love my stainless steel lights but they are not the place to put hard-driven LEDs.

Smallest 18650? Would definitely be a hand warmer.

Not the smallest. But definitely small.

Heat? Still cooler than a triple XM-L driven hard.

looks like the exact driver that's in my G6 xpg model..

But the Vf of the XM-L will probably have it draw 20% more current.

yeah no doubt..just stating it was the same driver..it's a nice host for the money..

Then probably about 2A for the XM-L. Pretty good.

The driver has an awful low PWM, I changed it to a 4x7135 in my XP-G Fandyfire

Is this light small enough to pocket carry or is it too heavy being a SS light?

Also anyone know if an 16mm XML will fit, planning to mod it with a Neutral White XML and 17mm driver(5x7135).

Thanks

Are you aware that the body is from steel? At those currents the emitter will probably cook pretty soon.

Yes, I will only be using it mostly on medium and low mode, and only occasionally on high. Will replace it with a 1.7A driver on high with a NW XML emitter.

I own the xpg version. It's a beautiful light. Very well made and really feels sturdy. Only problem is that it is quite slippery in my hand.

I was hoping to mod the G6 xpg with an xml but the pill on the xpg version is crap. I wish it was similar to the beefy pill in the uf-2100.

Anyone know if the pill on G6 xml is better/different than the one on the G6 xpg ?

I Just ordered the XML version, if the pill is crappy I might just upgrade it with a 1.4 AMC driver and NW XML.

I like the XP-G version but I wish it had a "low" setting instead of the Strobe setting.

It is quite a thrower for a light with that size reflector.

$20 you cant go wrong, wish i had waited for the xml version but no regrets. initially the light was a bit flaky though , i had to solder a small spring on the driver and add more solder to the pill to "ground' it better.

the modes didnt work as advertised - memory mode on this = fail. it actually remembers high mode but always skips to the next mode on all others ...

regarding pocket carry its not bad but pocket carry needs a clip IMO and its a bit heavy esp. sitting sideways in you pocket.

certainly not a light to run on high for more than 5 minutes but otherwise it looks nice and has been riding along in my back pack since.

I received my G6 XML and been using it for a few days now and really like it, Really bright but I doubt this light could take the heat on high as just in seconds it got very hot. I really like the size but its quite heavy, yes I know its STEEL.

Now I'm looking for same size as this G6 or smaller but on aluminum.

Update, I finally decided to mode my G6 XML as the stock driver produce 3.5A which is too much for the led and the Body, can't even use the light for a minute on high as in just a few seconds it got too hot. Replaced it with NW XML and 1.4A driver which the body now handles well.

Now I have a spare 3.5A driver for my next project.
