I am a fan of 26650 lights. I’m not sure why. Perhaps it is because these lights have a familiar girth that naturally fits well in the hand.

However, for too long the 26650 languished. Many lost interest in this cell size… too big, too heavy, not enough energy density. Then when the 21700 cells came out, the outlook for 26650 lights seemed even more dismal.

Now I am happy that the venerable 26650 is having a resurgence, so I am definitely INTERESTED in this MF01 Mini.

Please put me on the list.

Cheers!

I had that arguing with Mateminaeco first the light was planned on 21700 I made a driver for it
the someone decided to go for 26650 not sure why but in the end someone of the company makes the decision
instead using the less diameter driver I had to add a bit size

The Astrolux S41 / S43 TIR lens is pretty exotic. It’s the same for the MF 01. I would be very surprised if they will use something not locally manufactured but imported.

They will use one 7x TIR that gets made in China

Perhaps the decision to go with 26650 was based on the wish not to directly compete with the Fireflies E07 (another guess). In any case it worked out for the best… for me. Big Smile

Tally-ho: You had better instincts about the optic than I. Good job!

Lexel: Are you able to tell us the approximate beam angle of the new 7x TIR?

Or any additional information on anything? Innocent

Nothing to see from the MF01 Mini. Do we get new information and a starting preorder within this month?

Now April is over. Are there any new information or a new timeline?

I know the GB isn’t ready… but how about some specs?

I’m curious to see if/how much this light will differ from the E07

Astrolux prematurely announced both their new lights the MF01 mini and MF01S the same or next day as the D18 release. Trying to steal thunder and not lose out because everybody bought a D18 already.

lol then there’s hank: New light available… NOW! ships in 2 weeks. BAM, done!

No GB’s though but Hank’s got to be the worlds most accommodating mfg ever

I am very interested in the ASTROLUX MF01 Mini. I think it will beat the Fireflies E07 in performance and general quality.Astrolux have also been around longer and as far as I know they have good reputation regarding quality etc…I trust this brand…

My questions.

1. Will there be a CU version ? in that case will it be announced before the group buy ?
2. If not when will it be available ?

I think most people here honestly will wait for CU version.
It would suck to buy regular version and then see CU version come out later so CU version should be available from day one as premium option.

I applause the usb charing I hope it will be fast charging, I use it when I work as security guard so I am going in and out of the car so I have many opptertunities to charge it in the car.
if it is fast charging like Acebeam EC65 I will buy a Anker Powerdrive 2 usb charger for the car (24 watt)

The D18 is not even in the same category, so they dont compete atleast with the MF01 Mini.
D18 is way bigger in size… Emisar really need to put out an alternative to Fireflies E07,.. I think in the next comming months we will see a stream of E07 alternatives so its best to sit still in the boat now..but it’s safe to say that E07 is the most influential flashlight of the year.. and we will see many copy cats… Fireflies still deserves respect for being first… I hope FF will build up there reputation when they have proved there manufacturing is in order… most of it is probably fixed it but people have the right ot be skeptical but it is safe to say that FF have cheeped out on the quality control…

I think he is referring to this release: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/66326, in regards to the D18 comparison. He’s right about the delays, I was holding out but got anxious and ordered the D18 2 weeks ago. Not sure when we will see either of these offerings.

The day the D18 was released it was ready for shipping in 2 weeks. Astrolux was caught off guard so to attempt to salvage lost sales potential they shotgun released the MF01S the same day despite it being almost half a year from production. They then decided to release the MF01 mini that same day also, again being months away from production.

The D4S is a competitor to the E07 as will this MF01 mini be
The D18 is just a better, smaller version of the nearly identical MF01S

The D18 was announced March 14 and was ready to ship in 2 weeks
The two MF01 variants were announced March 14 but the GB for the MF01 mini was scheduled for April & the MF01S GB was scheduled for May

Now here we are May 3 and the GB for the MF01 mini Hasn’t even begun._.

The MF01 mini probably wont ship until June possibly even July._ the MF01S could easily take until July or August._.

It’s just seriously annoying they announced a Pre-Buy 3 and 4 months early (Minimum!)

Ya. What Matt said. I got anxious again and pulled the trigger on a D4S. Mostly because I prefer the aesthetics and it seems to have a better reputation. And Magnets.

Copper would be cool but theyve never done more than edc’s with a copper main body, the bezels and batt tubes were stainless steel. Id still love that also but it hasn’t ever launched on a med/big light before so i wouldn’t hold my breath.

I cant see it having much if any additional output given it and the E07 both use a single cell set-up & FF is already driving the leds hard. The 26650 runtimes however should be a big improvement

I own a raw alu E07 with purple aux LEDs in SST20 5000K and it’s one of my favorite lights. It actually has replaced my S1R as my edc. Most would never edc a 21700 light but for me it’s just on the edge of being too big for edc.

It’s a gen 2 so the quality is great

I don’t own an emisar yet but I have three in the mail right now, D4S being one of them. It could’ve replaced my edc slot but there’s no pocket clip for it. I doubt the D4 on order will be good enough to take the E07s spot but who knows. Emisar makes absolutely fantastic products that are of the same quality as the biggest brands out there. Astrolux and FF are what you call premium budget lights.

Hopefully the MF01 mini ships before my Birthday on June 22 and it can be one of my bday present lights! Lol I have a feeling it won’t be shipping by then though. Theyre still not even solid on the FT03 which was announced all the way back in January

Did you get a NW? I hope so because they had tons of problems with the NW but the CW have been shipping ok so far.

I say ok because I received my CW two weeks ago and it was DOA. BG was good about it and gave me a full credit. I re-ordered last week and it shipped this week so I really hope yours was a NW

On that note however, I do like that I ended up with a host as I’m going to convert it to a white flat 1mm once Levels new drivers are ready.
