BLF A6 1 -of- 9 won't switch modes

I have ordered and received 9 of these from banggood and the support emails that are posted do not work. How can I obtain support, if any exists?

Does it only do “turbo”?
Could be a short between LED minus and the flashlight body then.

No, it was in a medium mode. After banging on the switch for several minutes (2-3 minutes) as fast as I could tap it, I got it to go straight into a low intensity mode, then after another five minutes of trying (rapid switch taps), it went into a high-intensity mode. But now it’s stuck there.

Is there a way to contact them to get support or a replacement?

You can open a ticket on Banggood.
Go to “my orders”, click on the “order details” of this order, scroll down to find “after sale details”, click it and you’ll find some options.

So the light does turn on and off with the switch?
Then it’s definitely a faulty driver.

See my previous comment.

someone else recently reported they got a fast refund on banggood by going through their process
send some video and maybe a pic, instant refund, no return required

I’ve built many many A6 drivers, possibly a couple of hundred. Never encountered a faulty driver issue.

PM me, I’d be happy to fix it for you.

Thank you for your offer, Dale. I really want to have a replacement light I can count on. I don’t buy products with the intention of making repairing them a hobby. However- I really do appreciate your willingness to help out!

I have contacted them (a couple days ago). They want a photo of the shipping label from the bag I didn’t save, a photo of the barcode, and a video (which was too large to eMail). I didn’t expect it to be as easy as Amazon, but good grief- save your shipping bag?

Our cars need repairs and maintenance on a routine basis, as do most items we buy. Sometimes shipping can be the most brutal part of a flashlights life. Stuff happens. I started modding lights when one of my very first purchases didn’t work right out of the box. Found I rather enjoyed the challenge and now have something like a thousand mods behind me.

It is what it is…

I was probably on the development team on that light (memory sucks) and I know it was TK’s first collaboration on our drivers. It has been my go-to no-frills power driver as it’s stability and reliability are exceptional. The reversing ability of this driver changed the game for me and I quickly adopted it as the de-facto standard in any light I built. I have the code on the firmware on this going back into 2015. Quite likely the problem is due to something having come loose, likely from a jolt or a fall. Easy enough to fix or repair, the most basic of work in todays lights.

China is closed through the 31st for Chinese New Year, just so’s ya know.

Thanks again, Dale. This time of the year has always been my least favorite, followed by August for trying to get things done.

Lunix has Linux Ubuntu?
You know Pitivi video editor?
Okay, still a lot of fuss, i agree…
As many company’s CS do, they try to discourage you (it seems).

Pitivi video editor? No- I never heard of it- BUT I certainly will look into it. Yes, I run Linux on a few machines (unfortunately Windows is still indispensable). One of those is Intel-based, but most are ARM, and software isn’t always supported/available there. Much is, but some has issues (e.g. VLC). Thanks for the helpful suggestion. I did take another quick video and it managed to get through. But I haven’t heard back yet. However, the tool you suggested will come in handy in the future. Thanks again!

UPDATE: I tried it on an ARM machine - it was available in a repo and installed effortlessly. I was able to resize the longer video. It color-shifted to a purplish hue, for some reason. But it’s easy to use, and the video is good enough to demonstrate the issue (and fits in banggood’s inbox). Thanks (yet) again!
