Ok got it to work , Got myself two micro Helicopters , arrived a few days ago ...
This one is the V911 , Electric , 4 channel , My only issue so far is that these little Heli's wont hold trim from the start of the flight to the end ...
Get yourself a Syma S107 from Amazon for @ $27 shipped. Built in gyroscope circuit holds trim like a champ! Easiest critter to fly and has a huge online following and spare parts are easy to get and affordable. Quite a few simple mods you can do, too! I have one (bought it for myself for Christmas) and love it!
If it's a first heli I'd go with a proven RTF model. Heli's bought from HK dealers like DD & DX are a crap shoot and parts will likely not be easy to get. Once you've mastered a gyro'd coax and know whether you want to continue flying you can progress to something more challenging like a single rotor. Crashes and broken components can quickly kill enthusiasm for the hobby.
It would be nice to mount a micro video-camera on it.
I have one like this for bike use, it's cheap and records nice: http://www.ebay.com/itm/170743777846?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Just need a larger Heli with power to spare ... I have 2 x 450 kits , They have been test fitted , but need to be thread locked and servos motors etc added and then flight trimmed ..
Something like a 450 size will do on board video or aerial video ...
Wow, thought this thread would get more activity. I just got my S107G, and I'm back hooked again. Need to add a little weight to the nose for some giddy up, but very stable. I bet it won't be long before I get a 4channel one since I can tell it is missing.
I used to fly gas planes and did a little safe hovering with a gas chopper (no guts or money) years ago. Been having a craving for some time for a small, controllable tinker toy.
I have a larger Apache 3ch I was given a few years ago, but it is uncontrollable rotationally. I guess this was before the Yiboo had gyros. Still haven't figured out which stick controls the rotation, because neither have enough influence.
old4570, does your 4 channel have the twist/rudder on the left stick and the aileron/drift on the right?
Though about tying a strip of bacon to the bottom of it, but I bet the dog would eventually win.
lmao imagining my 140+ lb dog smashing everything in the house as he chased that strip of bacon. His head is 5ft tall when he's on his hind legs...it wouldn't be eventually for him indoors, it would be seconds - unless I had higher ceilings.
I'm still wondering what they'd think of it outdoors. Probably lose interest quickly (w/o the bacon lol)
I'm really itching to get one of these. My father-in-law just got one from Brookstone and I must admit it is pretty awesome. The only problem is flight time. Has anyone tried to increase the capacity of the on-board battery? Obviously weight is a giant factor, but I know people must want more run time, even if it's only a few more minutes.
