Collaboration between the 2 companies for a seasonal brew and it is fantastic.
Got a 12 pack of bottles (only way sold over the counter, is also in bars via keg)
Last year was only on draft.
Can really taste the cocoa but is not overbearing, not too sweet but really think the ladies will drink this one as well as the men.
Get some to sample if you can. Pretty much an east coast thing as far as distribution until the Coors/Yuengling west coast brewing thing takes off, but think this blend is only made here but could be wrong.
Lots of porters and stouts are taking the cocoa/coffee angle and I’m all for it. Way better than IPAs vying to taste the most like pine needles for years IMHO.
Okay, I actually returned like 3000 empties (from water, not mine) and grabbed a bunch of 12s to last me a while, including the Hershey’s.
Meh.
Has a nice taste at first, not too overpowering like drinking Yoohoo, but to me seems to have a faint aftertaste or at least aftersmell of wet-dog-fur. Then again, some people looooooove Hershey’s Kisses, but to me they have an aftersmell of rancid butter. Their Special Dark is really good, though.
Anyhoo, I put a bunch in the freezer, had a sampling before, and will have another when it gets cold enough.
Fair warning, I got the Super-Smeller, so may be picking up on something other people might not even notice.
Dunno if it’s all-around or just local, but Warsteiner Dunkel is stoopit-cheap now. Sale?
Still leftover Samuel Jackson Octoberfest[sic] and Pumpkin Ale. Score!!
As far as Hershey’s chocolate, yeah the Special Dark is the only one I like.
If you want a good regular chocolate made in PA, try out Wilbur’s chocolate from nearby Lititz, PA.
Wilbur Buds, so good Hershey stole the idea!
Thanks for reminding me about the Samuel Jackson Octoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. Have to see if my local guys still have any, good stuff.
Later,
Keith
