Hey Den, did you know of a source to get some high capacity 18650s in Canada for a decent price? Everywhere seems to be around or over 50CAD shipped for a set of 4, is that about what to expect if not ordering a large bundle?
I recall you mentioned something about 18650canada a while back and those are the figures Iām getting from that site for 4 Sanyo NCR18650GAs.
Could you point to the location(s) where a resistor may be effectively installed?
Does this completely activate the full USB-C function? Or is more change required. Like a new chip.

I would not vote for full USB-C support
USB-C stuff is quite complex to implement. You need to know all this stuff:
- USB 2.0 Spezifikation (April 2007)
- USB 3.1 Gen 2 Spezifikation (Juli 2013)/USB 3.2 Spezifikation (September 2017)
- USB Power Delivery Specifikation, Revision 2.0 (MƤrz 2016) / Revision 3.0 (Januar 2017)
- USB Billboard Device Class Specification, Revision 1.2
- USB Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.2
Do you really need USB Power Delivery for the LT1? The 3A or 1.5A on 5V should be enough.

If I understand this discussion correctly one would have to cut traces on the PWB in order to install the 5.1k ohm resistors. A new chip is not required. Depending on how the board layout is, IMO its not really possible for someone to make the necessary change on a purchased lantern without seriously risking damaging the lantern.

True, but that still requires resistors. By default (without resistors) there is no 5V coming out of a USB-C charger.

I think this is the first time Iāve seen the LT1 next to a Q8. It gives a good idea of size, even after seeing all of Denās videos of the LT1.
Are the 600lm from the manual are for all 7 or for the 5 soldered?

Last first - No. There is no way to support the full USB-C spec in the LT1. It will not fast charge, will not function as a power bank, or support any of the āfancyā USB-C features.
Where the resistor goesā¦ I hate to say it like this, but sometimes blunt is the best kind of answer. If you have to ask, itās probably not for you. This is not a simple āConnect pad L to trace Gā process.
Now, in case you are qualified, lines CC1 and/or CC2 from the UCB-C connector have to be separated from ground and a 5.1k resistor inserted. This is delicate surgery, and currently untested on the LT1 driver. While some here are undoubtedly qualified to do this, most of us arenāt.
Some folks have managed to do this with the Raspberry Pi 4, so itās not impossible. It is, however, risky enough that Iām not going to give any instructions that may lead to someone trashing their LT1.
For the majority of us, using a USB-C to USB-A (female) adapter between your USB-C charger and USB-A to USB-C cable (supplied with the lantern) is the best answer.
To make the LT1 full USB-C support will probably add cost, and not worth for just the some of compatibility with a odd few type-c chargers, (honestly we could have saved cost if we had stayed with the plan to use the standard USB Micro plug interface, which that interface is still going to be around for a long time yet. We only went with the USB-C plug because a few members kept pushing for it, which ended up making things more expensive & complicated, (and this petty issue with the complaints of some type-c port chargers not working could have been completely avoided, AND saved cost & time by going with the still far more popular micro plug as originally intended. :person_facepalming:

Yes, I know it is more complicated. But Sovirn will sell the LT1 for a few years it is worth the trouble. Thatās the normal hick up with the first batch of products 
But can you point lexel to the table? It seems we need other values for 1,5A charging current.

From how it looks it seems to me that a USB-C sockets, being wider, are more robust than micro-USB sockets (correct me if Iām wrong). Since I have experienced two broken-off micro-USB sockets already in flashlights and one in a charger (almost unrepairable because it required reflowing them back into place) Iām a fan of USB-C, even if it does not have more functionality than micro-USB.
