I think there is a lot more people that would choose 2 clicks for turbo, than for strobe. 4 modes are ok, but with mode memory it’s annoying to turn it off at 100% and after a while, when needed low power, turn it on again in 100% and blind everyone in the whole universe. It’s annoying to cover flashlight with hand or closing eyes knowing what will happen. :weary: When last memorized mode is e.g 40% it’s not that bad to turn it on again.
I sanded down the head lip under the bezel and also the bezel bottom edge to get reflector lower and no rattle. Easier than modding reflector or raising led.
You could easily raise the led by placing a empty MCPCB under the current MCPCB as a shim.
I thought id just ask Simon if the reflector could be modded to help us.
And you add an extra layer of thermal paste and aluminum and masking on MCPCB and that insulating heat transfer well. Osram generates more heat than an XP-L so you will probably ruin heat transfer and shorten led lifetime by a margin.
I was at some point thinking about using a sanded MCPCB (sand the emitter circuit side) as a shim to raise up the emitter, but I found it too thick (1.5mm)
SST-40 8A driver is constant current, no PWM. I’m not sure what do you mean by brightness stabilization. It’s CC driver, so when battery voltage is lower than forward voltage of the LED, it delivers lower amperage.
Brightness and amperage stabilization are synonyms for me here (sorry, I’m not an expert).
As far as I understood, any specific brightness mode has variable number of lumens for this case, depending on battery charge. Thank you
Because the driver doesn’t use PWM, unlike the 7135s driver, lower modes should still be stabilized if the battery voltage is high enough for that mode even if the higher modes lost regulation.
What’s diameter of reflector and diameter of led triple circle? Will carclo optics do here? What’s depth of driver compartment? Wonder, if H1A driver will fit inside to drive triple in series.
If reflector is deep enough I can design 3D printed gasket-under-glass for carclo 10507, ledil satu, kai optics or even quads.
EDIT: reflector is 28.6mm x 11.1mm (answer from Simon, thank you!)
This means that there’s plenty of space and quad carclo 10622 fill fit. But for singles it’s limited to ~20mm reflectors.
