Cerakote Vs. Type II Anodize, How do they compare?

n10sivern is now coating flashlights in Cerakote, a tough ceramic finish that is painted on then baked. The question presents itself as to just how tough this finish is against standard anodizing? So n10sivern coated a Sipik SK68 and sent me both the coated one and a stock one to compare the finish. Now, I didn’t set out to destroy the finish on either light. As y’all know there are many ways to annihilate a light but that’s not what is at question here. In normal daily use, the kinds of things…

Although the swap increased intensity by 50 kcd, most of the addition lumens went into the spill beam and not downrange. Is that about right? As you mentioned, the reflector doesn’t seem optimized for the 90.2. I think we should hold off buying this light until someone can test a sample and confirm that adequate changes were actually made to make use of the 90.2. Seems a disappointment right now. Glad you tested it!

I have the NI40 w/ SST-40 dedomed and the SBT90.2. The SBT90.2 hotspot is about double the size of the SST-40 and the intensity is also noticeably higher than the SST-40 dedomed. You can see a much larger area with the SBT90.2 making the beam more useful.

Yep. I can’t wait for this thing. I have all the previous versions of the ft03 and look forward to this one. I go camping often and people are shocked at the power of them.
