About the number of chips, I think the test in the OP gives you the best clue about that, with the note that when long runtimes are involved not the weight of the flashlight matters but the outer surface area, and most of the flashlights that you mention have a higher surface area than a S2+. For reassurance, you could buy one of those <10$ infrared thermometers to measure the flashlight head during a test-run.
