KD (kaidomain): Deals and new products thread

There’s a photo of the reel so someone will have some explaining to do.

I have bought some. Can’t wait.
By the way, if you have some XHP70.2 de domed I would definitely be interested, since I don’t have the skills nor the courage to do it myself.

I really do not know why there is no difference, the resolution of my spectrometer should discriminate between them, and visually next to each other I expect a tint difference too.
In principle the two tested leds could by chance be close to each other because the JC1 and JA3 bin share a corner with each other, but I would not see that as the most likely explanation.

This makes me sad :frowning: I suppose the JC1 led you got could have been at the same bin boundary as the JA3… Unlikely though and I suspect something is up with KD, their supplier or the manufacturer.

Also, I should have known better to order some before they had been tested :person_facepalming:

Waiting for someone to test the 2A xhp50.2 3v also

Someone reported SST-40 N5 bin is no different than N4 bin, 80CRI rated leds were in fact 70CRI etc., my guess is they know what they're doing, for example they got N5 SST-40 reel but since they want to get rid of N4 bin leds, they sell all leftover N4 bin as falsely advertised N5 first. Similarly, first they want to sell all JC1 SST-20 before they open JA3 reel (but of course they will put picture of JA3 reel because BLF told them it's better regarding tint, so they will probably sell easier).

Bin difference was very hard to detect few years ago because almost no one on BLF had equipment to do proper tests, but now few members have ability to measure CRI,CCT,duv.

Don't be too naive, this bin scam is old news.

And the same as the XHP-35 HI D4 vs XHP-35 E2’s, XP-L V6 vs XP-L W2’s and XP-L HI V2 vs V3’s. RMM got burned too…

Although I’m not ruling out the possibility of what you say is true, I think it is unlikely. From talking to Texas Ace who has been involved on many different flashlight development projects from different manufacturers, he thinks it’s likely that KD got scammed by the same SST-20 supplier who recently sent him some sample FA1 tint bins that are really FB4 tint, which of course he didn’t end up buying. KD on the other hand, probably does not have the equipment or manpower to test every incoming emitter. Another possibility, but less likely, is that Luminus labeling is not to be trusted. TA has an order direct from Luminus and I’m curious to see if the labeling will be accurate.

Hello BanL,

Earlier, I asked for SST-20 J3 (or J4) GD2 95CRI 3500K.

I would like to tell, that I still need them, if you can source them - but my main goal is now just the CCT, so any of GA3, GB4, GC1, GD2 is fine regarding tint.

Could you please make a try for sourcing them?

Thank you in advance

Hi Adam

I just have some SST-20 3500K left on hand.

This is the LED code VH J4 GB4

Please let me know how many pieces do you want to have.

Thank you

Ban

I would like to ask for 8pcs on 16mm star and 4pcs on 20mm star for now (at some time later, I might need more as well)

Order placed, thank you very much

BLF discount code does not work on sale items anymore. Intentional or glitch?

I noticed there are some SST-40’s that are de-domed on kaidomain. Wonder how they did this. I have tried with several different chemicals with minimal success. Didn’t like the results anyway. May buy a couple just to see how well they perform. They start at $5.99 each.

Hi Ban

Would Kaidomain be able to source a reel of SST-40 in NW tint? I am liking the NW in the Astrolux FT03 the tint is about the same as the Cree 3A tint, which is my favorite, in N5 or even N4 would be great.

What say you?

That would be awesome. I’d buy some!

I would be in as well. I’m sure there would be several folks that would buy neutral SST-40`s. They are extremely difficult to find.

I would also be VERY much interested into the SST-40 in 5.000K tint.

Apart from that…
Ban, did you have any chance yet to look at my inquiry (see PM from January 2, 2019) about optimizations of your H1-A boost driver? It would be great to see it able to run with more current than 1A at 12V. I need some help to find the right resistor to mod. Maybe you can have some modifications applied by your manufacturer. This driver would sell like hot cakes as people would be able to build a short-tubed Convoy L2 XHP35 HI or the new S11 with SMO reflector and XHP35 HI.

Cheers,
Thomas

Lux-Perpetua the H1-A can handle triples in series well at least at 2A maximum output, Jensen567 did such testing.

For what you want the TPS61088 boost controller is probably not adequate, too limited I think.

For succesfully driving an XHP35 the Monolithic Power Systems MP3428 (used in the H2-C, see this Jensen567's quote) is a much better choice. And now that we're here, the MP3429 would be an even better choice as we usually want more current. ;-)

Cheers ^:)

Gracias Barkuti! I will have a look onto that.
