Looking for a good zoomable flashlight and other general questions

SA-28 at http://www.shenzhen-wholesale.com/mxdl-sa28-3-mode-q5-led-regulable-foci-flashlight_sku1275.html would cost you about $12-$13 with shippment (depending on your country). Compared to http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=9567 it is a bit brighter and has EZ900 die while KD one has EZ1000 die (acording to http://budgetlightforum.cz.cc/node/577) but KD produces bigger spot when focused.

Generaly SA-28 compared to Romisen RC-C6 produces more narrow beam in its widest position.

There are alot of focusing flashlights at http://www.ultraok.com/Wholesale-flashlight-adjustable-focus-torch_c884. Got that one http://www.ultraok.com/zoomable-adjustable-3-mode-cree-led-q5-aluminum-flashlight-torch-280-lumen_p1180.html?cPath=882_884 and its beam size and brightnes is in between SA-28 and RC-C6. Changed driver to AK-47 get it a bit more bright. Waiting to get this one http://www.ultraok.com/zoomable-adjustable-focus-3-mode-cree-led-aluminum-flashlight-torch-300-lumen-k2-holster_p1461.html.

Is there comparation of SA-8 and TANK007 TK-737?

I'm still waiting for this one sent the 12 of december:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260570879714&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

You may want to wait a few days till it gets to me. Can't be that bad, and it is even cheap. Looks better than the smallsun clone of clones but time will tell.

Its the same as a SA-28 without the possibilly to use 3xAAA, but comes with a holster.

The old version is very bright even with only a 1.5v battery. With a 14500 it may even be brighter.

mmmmm "apetitosa linterna"

Actually I might be mistaken and the 120 lumen rating for TK737 is correct. I just found this one at DX http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26796 which is listed as 120 lumens. I guess some sites have the less bright version with the Q3 emitter and others have the newer Q5? But can a Q3 to Q5 increase it from 120 to 210? Anyways maybe I'll just get the SA-28 instead sigh...

Thanks for the suggestions raccooncity and budgeteer.

Edit: Nice find fran82! I think that new Romisen might be what I need! Also thanks ledoman the ultraok site has the Q5 TK737 for $18.99 shipped. Too many choices!

Hi sobe,

The lumen ratings on the chinese websites are utterly meaningless. They simply are never correct. They are usually drastically overstated. 120 lumens sounds approximately correct for that light.

For me, a rotating zoom would be much better than a push/pull zoom. I wouldn't want it to zoom unintentionally, and a push/pull will get loose as time goes by.

Hi sb56637, here's the info from tank007's official site http://www.tank007.com/view_products.asp?id=369

It's rated at 200 lumens with Q5. Maybe it really was less with Q3? From the specifications it looks nice. I don't like the SOS mode but it has nice settings for high/mid/low output and decent runtime. It claims to be a forward clicky and looks like it can tailstand. And it has twist zoom. Now I want this one again lol

I personally don't believe the lumen claims at all, including those of Tank007. They are all grossly exaggerated. But that being said, Tank007 is a good brand, you'll probably like that one. Why don't you check into the shipping costs at

Or if you don't mind the 3-mode, maybe you could buy it from GoldenGadgets.

If you like the asthetics of the new 1xAA Romisen on DealExtreme you might want to go with that one. Romisen is usually very high quality, and a single AA battery flashlight is much easier to feed than a 3xAAA light.

My Tank007 tailstands perfectly. That UltraOK price is the lowest current price I've seen for the 5-mode, unless shenzhen-wholesale has reasonable shipping prices. And while one AA has about as much juice as 3xAAA, I think one 18650 has more juice than 3xAA. Which is handy for if the power goes out for a while.

Another variant of the Romisen RC-29 is the one sold by Shiningbeam. It's been upgraded with an R2 emitter and a new driver. It's just under $22, which is a bit more than DX, but the upgrades may be worth it.

Edit: Hell, I'll let you know in a few days....just ordered one!

Em i really the only one to notice the difference? I always disliked the nut design just under the head. Well... believe it or not his one doesen't have it. ;)

I´ll tell you, its very handy when using only one hand to change focus. But this is

of cource of no meaning if one consider the light more as a piece of design, not a

light for practical use.

I guess i have to have a try. Had the romisen RC-C8 which i liked very much but there were many times i wish it had a push pull mechanism.

At the end can't be that hard to mod the sliding to have greater consistency.

FYI the shipping from shenzhen to U.S. for the TK737 is $13.50. Insane.

Ah... it must be the warm weather ..when peoples thoughts turn to zoomable flashlights ..

it's one of those big bang for the buck lights

something else to play with .. you zoom out and say ...nope in a little bit . then in a bit and decide nahh... just a little bit more ..

I associate it to being a young boy and having a p****...

Here is a new one from deal extreme ..I missed the 18650 version of it and think I might bite on this one before it turns out to be twice the price like all the others did .

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.50680

here is the tank 737 q5 5mode for 17$

if you buy it from ric just tell him in the memo section you're a cpf member or a blf member and he'll discount it 10% for you http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/category.php?id=52

Problem with WSdeals //focal wholesale is that they have no details on their items..or they're wrong .. so it's a crap shoot . like all chinese dealers it's an exersise in faith .. you throw down your money and start praying ..

Shipping one TK-737 from cnqualitygoods.com to where I live (California) is $4.18. With the 10% coupon, cnqualitygoods.com costs about the same as ultraok.com, depending on how many lights one purchases and to where they are shipped.

My first Torch about 3 weeks ago is the Saik Sa9.

Similar to the Tank 737 in using either 3aaas or a 18650 but only about $8 or $ 9 on Ebay.

When I watched a video user demo of the Tank 737 the beam and emitter shape on tight Zoom looked like the Saik- but Saik Sa 9 is a more intense beam on 18650 I think.

Twist only about 90 degrees to go from flood to a really tight Zoom Image of the Led emitter, looks like the Saik is brighter than the Tank, but Tank is prettier host.

At night the Saik throws 500 feet or more ( and lights up a 12 X 12 room on Flood setting) and with humid conditions has a visible beam in the air- amazing for the price- mine has Bright, Medium and Flash plus Zoom function- not pretty but solid.

I may get another and have it modded to be brighter, but it's plenty bright now.

IF someone made a deluxe version with a more powerful emitter ( like 900 Lumens ) and glass lenses with internal reflector and lenses- it would be one of the best lights, period IMO, and one of the strongest small throwers.

There is a Tank TK 736 which uses an XM-L and 18650 which is only about $30 but one user told me the light is not driven hard enough to take advantage of the power of the XM-L.

Wow! This was an old thread revival. One of the best z2f lights ever wasn't even mentioned in it - the Romisen RC-29 with 3 non-flashie modes, a Q5 emitter and super bright on a 14500. Build quality is almost unbeatable and it's water resistant if not waterproof.
