Looking for a slim 18650 light to pocket carry...

I don't think you have to worry too much about heat with those lights. They are q5s. I thought you were looking for xm-l or at least xp-g?

... and that Ako-ray is a Q3 XRE. Dim by todays standards. I have found the difference between Q3 and R2 very noticeable. You should be able to find a tube shaped XRE, XPG, XPE host with a much brighter BIN than Q3.

I’m leaning towards the X1 for more body mass for better heatsinking buts still thinking about the AK-12 as its seems a really pocketable light.

I have seen X1 and IMO it's not really slim light.

Actually there was an Eastward at DX I was considering buying to mod .

I've been pretty impressed with my Eastward and thought about trying that one ..it's about 19~20$ and a q5 I think .very plain ,nice looking light

I bought a light off ebay that the threads were cut right thru and while playing with it the head just broke off in my hand ...once you see that..... it makes you appreciate just a little more metal

By the way, AK-12 have no "head" part, it's body is solid and tailcap only is detachable.

Here's a picture of the UF-2100 next to a Ultrafire X1. The 2100 is a little longer, but the diameter is about the same. I wasn't that crazy about the X1 and even though I modded it (new driver and LED), the switch still seems buggy to me. I like the 2100 better, but neither of these lights throws very well.

Update: The diameter of the two is essentially the same, about 23.5 mm. The 2100 is 119.9 mm long while the X1 is 115.2 mm long. The 2100 is 68.4g empty and the X1 is 59.1g empty.

Man, I should have waited to see this before pulling the trigger on the X1, Maybe if I don't like it probably will get the 2100.

Yes I don't own a 2100, I think I just made a mistake of buying the X1 but will see. Will be getting myself a 2100 once I have enough funds.

My 2100 was silent untill once I accidentally dropped it, then it started making that loud noise which would go away if I pushed the tailcap hard!

I took the light apart then put it back together and since then it's silent as the grave.

I highly doubt the measurements quoted on that site for the AK-12 are accurate.

I have the AK-12 and it's length is really 112mm, diameter is 21mm in thickest part (where there is a knurling and in the tail where there a threads are).

UF-2100 is available for $15.99 now at DD. Bring it down further with coupons and dd points.

It is 3 mode but you can mod it to 5 modes if you know how to solder.
I cannot hear the hum of my UF-2100 unless I place it very close to my ear. It's soft. The hum could be due to the high pwm.

Wow! Those Citycat lights are nice! If Ric could do a GB at $25 shipped he’d blow out a ton of those. I’d snag a grey/blue in neutral in a heart beat!
