Neal and M4D M4X are teasing some renders of possible new spins on the FWxx design on Facebook.
Apparently they're considering:
1x XPL HI LED and SMO reflector
3x XPL HI LED
1x SBT90.2 LED
1x SBT90.2 LED and deeper reflector
Personally I think cramming an SBT90 into this form factor wouldn't make much sense, but the larger reflector is an interesting spin on the design.
These are interesting. I like the 3x reflector particularly. Though the form factor looks slightly strange to me.
With a head diameter that large, you might as well go up to 21700 for the battery size…
Do any single cell lights use the SBT90 now? Any this small? Doesn’t seem practical at all to me. With an XP-l Hi, this could be a good C8 alternative.

Yeah, seems like a 1 second turbo light to me. And since we’re talking about lumintop here, the xpl-hi version would cost 3 times as much as a C8
Tbh I’m so tired of all the FWxx alternatives

The list of single cell small lights with single SBT90 has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few weeks, if modders are included in the picture.
So far, I like single SBT90 in a very large reflector light with ample fuel supply.

No company’s gonna bother De lensing an expensive LED…AND if somehow they do expect it to cost quite a bit.
Now if we had something this size with the throw of a K1 then…… I would take 2 =D

Would love to know the output and throw numbers. 3x XP-L HI and SBT90.2 looks interesting.

I seem to remember Vinh offers a Amutorch SD2 with a SBT90 in it, and soon the FW21 Pro - he could probably feedback what a form factor like this would feel like with such a powerful emitter. Other than ‘HOT’.

I’m in for 3x Boost HX.
Overall I like #2 and #3 the most.
#4 will throw about as much as #3 but have very narrow spill which I dislike.

Personally, only a deep reflector single Boost HX will draw me to this light. And only if the beam is clean!! No half baked reflector, nor one with a flat (useless) bottom. Diameter should be 33-35mm at the bezel with maximum reflector area possible. KR1 is winning by far at this right now IMO.

For me, 3x w2 and a 21700 tube.
