Ok, just as a note, there's a total of 6 Mag builds that will be floating around here, till parts get in.
One of them is a 3D dark Gray colored maglite. I will have a 3 LED setup for it. My problem is that I am torn between two ways to do it. Here's the two versions that I am deciding between.
First: Keep it a 3D and use the 3 XM-L reflector with 3 XM-L U2 LEDs and drive them with a Dry driver. The dry of course is 2.5A with turbo. So...... I am talking going 3 LEDs in series = let's say 3A and 9 AA NiMH (eneloops) = 10.8v (nominal).
OR
Second: Make it a 1D still using the same reflector and 3 XM-L U2s, but using three of the 8x7135 drivers master/slave/slave to control the LEDs. This would be 9A?, but with 4 AA eneloops, only 4.8v
Well I am torn between the two. On one hand a big 3 XM-L light that should run for longer than a few minutes and on the other hand a 1D sized 3 XM-L wow light with just a few minutes run time.
There's other ways and other mods, but these are the two that I have decided on and have parts coming for, so I need to pick between these two.
Your opinions of which way and why?
