Samsung 30Q GB Resolution

Insert MJ popcorn meme riiiiiiiight about here

This thread is literally more entertaining than the s*house Jean Claude Van Damme movie I’m watching.

As you were, chaps.

Aren’t button tops just flat tops with a button cap and shrink wrap? What if along with a partial refund BG sent out button caps and shrink wrap so we could make our own button top cells? That’s if they can source the caps.

For some who wants to go this route, look now farther, and it’s on sale now:

And if you want some more choices and other stuff?

I’ve read this thread for the first time and I have to say at $5 each for button tops, fine if you need them. But if they send flat tops then they need to put it right and send button tops. Simple.

If you get offered $2 per cell refund and are ok with that, fine. But if not ask them to send the correct cells.

According to the Samsung 30Q data sheet they are 64.85mm, those cap covers are 1.7mm, so you’re looking at around 66.55mm +/-0.15. Might be a lot of hassle for some but you could unwrap and then rewrap with shrink?

That shouldnt be something we have to do though.
We paid for button tops and im sure thats what a lot of people expect to get. That is the only solution for some as they were purchased specifically for that which has obviously been said before lol.
If you wanted to buy a music cd for your cd player but received that same product on a dvd instead which isnt supported you then have no use for it and would expect either a refund or the correct product.

I just think it may have been better to speak with a BG forum rep first to see what options are/will be available (I’m sure Martin is working on this too) and then maybe post a poll or something to see which option most people want. Anyways it’s your thread, I’ll back out. I just don’t like all the fighting and name-calling in general happening around the forum lately (not pointing fingers at anyone specific). BLF isn’t what it used to be.

On the other end, if someone in the US gets offered a $2/cell refund or something and still doesn’t need flat-top cells, I might be willing to buy 3-4 of them for your remaining cost. I’m not actually trying to be nice with this offer, I just think it would result in a good deal for me.

Yes, I am in agreement with you. You buy X and one expects X to arrive at their doorstep, not Y. However, there may be some of us who would entertain creating button top cells from the flat tops they would have received.

Contrary to what it would appear several other posters are, is that I am not outraged by this situation. If I get flat tops (I’m still yet to receive my 30Qs) then I may do the above and buy cap covers and shrink wrap. Hell, I might even get custom shrink wrap with my face printed onto it.

I said I would butt out, but I feel I should address this

A button-top cell usually has the top welded to the top of the cell, it is not just held in place by shrink wrap. If it were to shift around too much, it’s very possible it could contact the cell case and cause a dead short.

So I can’t get my face printed onto my batteries? : (

I was really looking forward to that if I got flat tops.

You can get your face printed, but I wouldn’t add the button-top :stuck_out_tongue:

Soldering a ‘blob’ on top would be safer than a loose button top shifting around.

Edit: if you are interested in soldering a blob on your cells, ask for advice on how do it safely.

LOL

Haha, OK, thank you for the heads up. I’ll put the shrink wrap cover cap idea to one side.

So I end up with 4 30Q flat tops. I guess my next flashlight would have to be something that those cells work well in. Any suggestions?

Thanks I was wondering about that

they are good cells but he can’t use them. so?
back to BF or sell them to anybody need them

If banggood can’t tell the difference between flattop and buttontop, well, then they should stop selling batteries

I would be fine with this.

My suggestion for you guys is to take as much as you can from BG for a refund and diy button top from Fasttech for about 5$.
That’s what I did when GearBest send me a flat top Keeppower for my Courui !
