I just read here that this light does have a balancing circuit. I still wouldn't buy the light at $20, but it's good to know that uneducated purchasers are getting some protection.

I don't know if there is any problem with this light. Tmack at LPF reported (See link above your post) that this light has a balancing circuit for the cells. So the light might be fine as is. I think must of us were assuming the worst (2 cells in series with no balancing circuit and charger that doesn't use the proper CC/CV charging algorithm). I don't know for sure if it has those things or not as there has been no independent testing that I'm aware of.
Sorry for the lack of a definitive answer. Maybe someone will chime in with more info.
