Good luck with getting that reflector! I hope it works out better for you. Paul has insisted I take a $10 refund rather than a new lens for my light. You can see here
I didn’t realize yours had got nailed by customs also Brett… What luck for you two………. :person_facepalming:
What is a customs declaration?? I’ve never seen one in any of my ‘China’ stuff’…
T18, I could polish that reflector for you so you can have a working light at least. It usually makes for a nice beam but it might cost a few lumens over a PVD coated reflector. Better than sitting on a parts bag waiting for new arrivals anyway. Your call…
The customs declaration is widely misunderstood. You can look up what “gift” means in your particular country.
For most countries the tax is higher, not lower, on items declared as a gift.
For the USA, “gift” means that you intend to give it to someone else as a gift, not that it’s a gift from the seller to you or that you’ll resell it.
There’s a minimum below which there’s no import tax — lower for gifts than sales — but either way, a single flashlight isn’t likely to cost enough to be taxed.
it’s worth remembering that the insured value — if the package is lost — is the declared value.
So by lying about the intended use (“gift”) and the value, the sender actually sets up the receiver to be in worse shape if something goes wrong.
Not that explaining this makes any difference at the sender’s end. They won’t understand it.
No, actually mine did not appear to be stopped by customs. I was just noticing that “gift” designation on the side and wondered about customs seeing that multiple times and deciding to check it out. I could be way off on this thought though.
Well hank, that might be true for the US , here in Europe they love to tax stuff
At around €22 tax is due
And that is VAT, import and fees that all in all start at €32 (~$35) to pay to the mailman. On a $25 light with an honest label not worth buying.
And one has the invoice of something so when something goes wrong along the way no seller has given me bdms about declared value.
Hey soverignknight I do like the looks of that. Can you tell me a little more about your mod. Did you just swap the emitter or do the driver too? Are you using the original brass pill or did you get another one? If original, how did you get the star off the brass, mine seems glued on.
The XHP 50 model will only operate on two 26650s. It does not have a boost driver using the stock driver. As for one/two battery preference, I prefer two for the size.
Jaxman Z1 Help needed.
Hi I am trying to find out the sizes of the O ring on the Tail and Body Inside the Jaxman Z1. could be 019. seem thick on the tail.
I have some on the outside ( but not sure if they even supposed to be there ), but I am sure the ones on the inside would fit the outside.
Probably yes. If you would like to use mcpcb from intl-outdoor you would have to:
• reduce the mcpcb diameter to 29mm
• drill new holes in mcpcb
• sand the pill to make it flat
• drill and thread new holes in the pill
• make a special washer (the pressure ring must rest on something and it is better not to be led)
