Yet I would be unable to solder the components, nor to source them in reasonable quantity that wonāt make the whole thing 3 times the price of a brand new I3E
I was the one who said there were plenty of tiny drivers around. I said it because X3 was giving away his host due to not being able to fix it. I was trying to encourage him that he could fix it by changing the driver. He is in the USA. We have Mountain Electronics. They sell drivers of various sizes and styles.
I donāt know if there are plenty of drivers available to you or not, outside the USA. Do you know how to solder? Build drivers? If so, there are free driver board designs from BLF that are uploaded to OSHPark. You could buy them for $5USD per square inch for three copies, including shipping. Then, youād have to get components and put the drivers together yourself. The board I posted above is one that I designed with the driver on one side and LED on the other, for lights like this one, that donāt have a separate MCPCB for the emitter.
When I look under the avatar of X3 I can read he is from France?
And yes I can solder but not with such small parts on a such a tiny driver board But no problem, I think I need to look more closely in the internet for a tiny driver board!
Hello! I am new here. I've been loving flashlights forever but, have just recently made it a hobby and upgraded to some nicer lights. I have this i3e and I really like it a lot, looking forward to getting better runtime with some nimh eneloops I ordered. On another note, the greenmax battery mine came with exploded in my thrunite t01, it didn't harm it though. I've been learning about different chemistry batteries and it is so interesting.
Iāve been told that EOS is a Chinese manufacturer, and no doubt numerous āname brandā lights are actually EOS under the skin.
That a pretty common strategy nowadays in electronics and home appliances - one fairly invisible outfit makes them all and rebadges them with various names and minor cosmetic differences for various ābig nameā corporations. (I wonder how many brands of hair shampoo and motor oil actually all come out of the same tap!)
Iāve seen lights actually branded EOSLamp, and bought drivers thus branded, and to their credit itās always been top notch stuff.
