I purchased a S42 and was initially planning on reviewing it. After using it for a few days the UI got me so frustrated I gave up on the light (it has been in my cupboard ever since). Sorry to say it like it is. I still like the craftsmanship and quality, just not the overall firmware.
If it is OK I would still like to be considered for the giveaway and I trust future UIs will improve with the help of the great BLF community! Astrolux has really good relations with us on here and I value that.
edit:
Here is an idea for Astrolux and other manufacturers/brands:
If you have a dedicated website (like the one you are planning) for a brand or type of product, is there a chance to see how the product works? like a little animation with a hand or finger using the light? Or the visitor could use the mouse pointer to physically use the “digital” version of the light (switch it on/off/go through modes)? It may sound like a weird feature request but it would help the future user a lot to “see” the features.
I have an S41, a copper A01 (O-L spec.ed), and a BLF A6 (Astrolux S1).
The first comes out of the drawer when my family/friends need a meet and greet with a wow-light.
The second comes out of the drawer to be looked at and to be polished (in fond memory of O-L).
The last one I just use. It gave me quite a bit of trouble out of the box but now it works like a charm.
My Astrolux S1 is my favourite light. It is the best compromise between flexibility and easy of use, brightness and size. The beam pattern and colour are good too.
I own two Astrolux light, s1 and c8, both are great lights in their categories, the c8 is my favorite compact thrower and the s1 my edc light. if i have to chose one it'll be the s1 just because i keep it in my pocket everyday.
It's a great compact and powerful light and i love the 18350 extension tube, with it the Astrolux s1 become a perfect tiny edc light.
When i received both lights i made a video for each one, not a review, but an unboxing video Astrolux S1 and Astrolux C8.
I would definitely buy other Astrolux lights, i'm just not sure wich one yet. ;)
I have the BLF A6 and two A01 models, one copper. The A6 has been my favourite carry light from the day I got it, I love the UI, tint, beam profile and range of outputs. It lives in my car door always ready wherever I am.
I like the Astrolux S41, but is just a bit too heavy for pocket carry.
So given that it is too heavy anyway, I like my colourful S41S best, tons heavier even than the S41, and the extreme aggressive knurling would rip my pants pocket apart. BG had to replace the head because of a design fault causing ripped off led domes and even with the new head the optic needed adapting to get the beam right, and I swapped in 90CRI 5700K 219b’s, but that all being done it may be my favourite shelf queen
Thanks Banggood for the Astrolux brand, your affordable flashlights with the newest gadgets and the never ending series of design flaws is an endless source of discussion and modding on BLF
my favorite astrolux product is the Astrolux S1/BLF A6 A17DD-L FET+1 2.8-4.35v 7/4 Modes Flashlight Driver, cheap, good enough current sink, easily mod, and decent UI
