Button tops are sold by different companies and can vary in height slightly.
Here is a pic where I removed one from a different battery. You can see they are made from a thin metal and are fairly easy to dent or bend.
It’s total height is about 1.5mm. I think about 1.3mm is what sticks out, but it depends on the wrapper.
The GT carrier needs about 1mm. I don’t think I actually measured it. It’s not a big gap.
If your not sure it is making contact, just measured the carriers voltage. If one or more are not touching, there will be zero voltage.

I have the 3.5in and I get around 5200 lumen at turn on, so your numbers look good to me!

One of the biggest problems I have seen since I bought the first batch of cells from Neal is the nipple the Chinese are putting on is awful short, so today I bought 16 more cells from Liion Wholesale and a new Opus, I looked at his nipples, ON THE BATTERIES, and there is a huge difference, a longer nipple would have held the cells in much better, some of mine are so short I can’t tell if their contacting or not.
Yep… I noticed the exact same thing T18. The button tops on those were to short for my liking too. They barely make contact…
And I mean barely.

lol, where did you find that?
That is Neal, who was a major part of the first GT and helped with the GT70 as well.
One of the few people in China I trust to care about the quality of the flashlight as a whole and not just see dollar signs.
Is there a group buy for that Tshirt?
Neal wearing a UI diagram I made, because of a joke which went a bit too far during the BLF A6 project. I think he was going to send me one, but never did.
Anyway, it must have been a prototype or something, since it seems to be missing some dotted lines.

TK, yes that was supposed to be the proto and the shirts were to be made for sale here at BLF in your honor and the proceeds were to go to you and Neal to the best of my recollection,
He was still at BG then and I think they got word of it and Neal stopped responding and the shirt just fizzled out and we never heard anything about it again, what a bummer it was. You sure hit a home run with that A6 UI.
I spent all night trying to figure out what happened with that one cell of mine and I found out but it’s nearly 5:30 am here and I am beat so I’ll tell you later what I found.
I didn’t know there were two springs and all springs I’ve seen have a 90 degree bend on the end, but not these outer springs so I got a huge slice on my finger and a big bloody Sunday for me, so heading to bed, will explain later about how sharp that spring wire is.
Good night all… :confounded:

Sorry if this has been answered, but any updates on the warm tint option?

There will not be a dedicated warm tint anytime soon. It is about a 50/50 chance of 4000k (which some might consider to be on the warm side) and 5000k at this point.

Okay how about neutral?
The neutral tint LED’s should be ordered this week. How long it will take them to get to lumintop is unknown at this time as it will depend on how and where they are ordered.

Just read through all the posts on these carriers and what might have happened is that the 5 rods that assemble the carriers are where the shortening of the carrier occurs,
I measured those rods this morning, and the 1st run rods were 71.31mm long and these new shorter carriers rods are 69.17mm. Doesn’t seem like much but it really is.
Everything else with the exception of the new positive end of the carriers insulator gasket all the parts appear to be the same for the most part, as matter of fact I’m not sure they used different springs at all, so that might mean that they deliberately shortened the rods to make the springs compress more.
The rods are shorter T18, but take a look at the ‘end caps’ of the carriers in Mark M’s picture below.
The GT70 is on the left & the GT is on the right. You will notice the end caps on the GT70 (left) are much thicker than the original GT’s (right).
This is one reason for the shorter rods I think .
I’ll say this… the 30Q batteries fit much more securely in the new GT70 carrier. :+1:
.
Here you can see the difference in thickness of the aluminum.
I missed this post Teacher and yes that is something I missed, I really do not believe there’s anything devious going on like cheapness etc.
But the mistake Lumin made was not clearing everything through TA first, they are in a rush to recover money,
Had they talked to TA then most likely none of this would have been an issue.

With this new shorter battery cradle, will a flat top battery make good contact/connection in it?

No, the new carriers still have the polarity protection boards installed. These would have to be removed to use flat top batteries.
Better to solder blob the batteries IMHO.

Hi.
My GT70 has the “new carrier” and battery over 67.30 mm will NOT fit…
If somebody else has measured something else please update.

I have an extra set of Stock BLF GT35 battery carriers (better fit for protected batteries) if someone in the U.S. wants to trade for their GT70 shorty carriers, they are like new…?

So what do you want to change?
If Lumintop keeps the new shorter carriers, I will remove “protected”.

I think they already have the manuals printed for this batch but if the changes are worth it they might consider reprinting.
Joechina has been the one working on the manuals up to now (Although the protected cells mistake and any other errors fall squarely on me, he can not correct what he doesn’t know, he has done a fantastic job with the information he is given and the time constraints).
You are welcome to contact him and work on an updated manual and I can pass it along to lumintop.
At the very least we can have it available for download in this thread.
Thank you!
@Mark M
Writing the manual and checking if everything is OK would be easier when the writer has a lamp to compare.
But there is never one. Only asking stuff via emails.

I only mentioned that because there are some minor grammatical errors. Not because of the carriers. I was unaware a forum member wrote it.

Oh, you made the shirt the wrong way.
Text and pics on a shirt like this need to be upside down, so you can read it.

Does the BLF GT70 have a battery low-voltage protection like in the Sofirn flashlights?
How do I know I’m not pushing the non-protected batteries too much when using the flashlight?
