Yeah, I wasn’t sure on the internals of it. Never had one or anything. Looks can be deceiving of course. Didn’t know if it was a good deal or not. The way my luck goes somebody would bring it up a few months from now that it’s the best zoomie since zoomie’s were cool again and here I let a $9 deal get by me.
FEENM Car Windshield Snow Cover, $2.20 shipped after $2.00 coupon and 70% Vipon code
Doesn’t look like the thickest and most protective cover, but wow, for $2.20 it looks like a good value in helping to reduce ice buildup during snow storms
I have had a few brands of lighters like that. Never could get one that actually worked any good. I do still have the habit of smoking, down to less than a pack a day after being a 3 pack a day smoker for 20 years. Anyway, the ones I ended up with didn’t have enough space near the arc to light a cigarette evenly. I could only fit one half of the end of the cig so the arc would hit it. Also took forever to get the thing to light paper or anything. I kind of gave up on them. Let me know if that one works any better. I would try one again if I got a good report on one.
Seriously, once we had an ice-storm overnight (at least freezing rain), by morning it looked like I had a huge orange-peel windshield. Gave the windshield a few gentle baps with my elbow to crack the ice (without cracking the windshield, hopefully), and all the pieces just slid off like a fried-egg in a cast-iron skillet.
Never tried AquaPel(?), but ostensibly lasts even longer.
They pulled a fast one here. That light was reduced to 39.95 +/- 2 days ago, now the price is 59.95 less the 30.00.
Good deal non the less but hate the price manipulation.
Wellp, I recall the alternative, too. Leaving work, got to my car to find it encrusted in ice like a Glazed Doughnut From Hell. Had to chop away ice from the door seams just to open it to get in. Had to have the car fast-idling forever just to get up to temp to try to heat the windshield enough to melt the ice. No go.
Wasted at least a half-hour if not more just trying to get a clear enough view to see through the windshield. Frustrating…
Since then, every time I hear it’s even rumored to get below freezing, I reapply RX to all glass my car has, including mirrors and lights.
For a while, I went inside to get a container of hothothot water from the tap. Was about tepid by the time I got to the car. Poured (slowly!) the water to try to melt the OP ice from the windshield nicely, but the problem with that approach is that even after that ice melted, the leftover water on the windshield froze back up quickly (was in the teens, middle of a “cold snap”).
I was figuring the stream of hot warm water would at least heat the glass enough to let me take a few swipes with the wipers, but nope, the cold air and more importantly cold wind was cooling it back down.
I still remember the strong wind and freezing rain that only one side of my car had about a half-inch of built-up ice, while the other side was just “frosted” somewhat. Freaky…
