Beautiful light, I love the design. Maximum lumens and efficiency with minimum size and price. I dislike charging ports and am glad you left that out. And nicely done with those individual optics, a great solution. Thanks, Hank!
I’m surprised to see that nobody asks about what optics the D18 use.
Ok, I can not wait to tell you, that in order to maintain a smaller head, and as pocket-able as possible,
we use 18 pcs single optics, and squeeze every tiny room in the head. Not a easy work for the assembly, the production speed is slow.!https://intl-outdoor.com/images/20190314214330.png!
Very neat. Can’t wait to see what else you’ll come out with.
This looks fantastic, can’t wait for release, need one in my life ASAP Long time lurker here.
Hank, do you know if Richard @ MTN will be distributing?, usually do most of my purchasing through him, as he initially (and continues) to feed my light obsession and knowledge of products. Amazing responsiveness and prefer to run through MTN, but certainly not dependent. Just curious if he’ll be distributing in the same time frame as purchasing direct from you?
And as others have asked, if not initially available, will XP-L HI be an option at some point? cost be damned.
I agree with Komeko: XP-L HI variant would be awesome. Though expensive.
Other interesting options:
Osram CSLPM1.TG – very very bright and still somewhat throwy. Expensive
Osram CULPM1.TG – may be even better than CSLPM1.TG but requires a different MCPCB.
Samsung LH351D – very very floody, very very bright. Great lm/$.
look at 6 LEDs per battery the currents are not that high, so even SST-20s give good lm/W
lets say 20A per battery so 3.33A per LED
Like 70 lm/W with CRI95 and about 90 lm/W with CRI70 (at the emitter)?
3.33A is past the efficient range of SST-20 already. LH351D would be very very roughly 25% more efficient.
That said: personally I wouldn’t choose LH351D because it would be way too floody for me.

make a turboglow plate to put on top of this light optics would be dope as fudge
Hank – you could be the one of the first to benefit from offering the LH351D led on this light – much lower price than the XPL and about the same output. In fact – output of the XPL and the price of the SST-20…..makes a big difference with 18 emitters. I know I would jump at the opportunity.
Wow. Take my
first bornmoney.I agree, I’m in! Hoping for blue, that went fast in the D4!
Thanks for the m43 comparison shot.
+1 to source LED options on or below BBL, especially for high cri.
Regarding length, seems similar to m43. Doesn’t the boost driver in the m43 occupy alot of space?
That is very good news Hank. Paypal ready

Hank I understand there is no AUX LED at first, and some people do not want, but is there any plan to add it because personally I love the D4S AUX LEDs.
Either way I want one soon :). Very nice work
Oh and it’s a screw down bezel without glue correct?

Can you please show us the complete teardown of the light? We want to see the components and fit and finish..
is the electronics made in China? Ramping UI?

The switch on the NOCTIGON looks better and the lanyard hole should be in the tailcap not on battery tube

I love XPL Hi 3A in my D4S.
I'm sorry, but I can't NOT see it in this light. It just reminds me of all the trypophobia pictures.
P.S. Googling that may be upsetting to some. Pomegranates trigger it in some people...
Also, someone defend this against MT03 TA Devourer. I was planning to get one of those...

@ScallyWag, this uses high CRI LEDs.
That should be enough for you to take this light over the MT03 TA unless you want absolute highest brightness.
