I got mine, in the rain… box was somewhat beat up but it’s packed well so no issues.
With a pair of Molicel P26A 18650’s in it I see 6090 lumens in my calibrated light box. This after playing around a little with it, so not fresh charged fully topped off cells.
Twice now, sitting in standby, it just suddenly came on in Turbo! Once I laid it on the bed and within a couple of seconds it came on just laying there. And while writing this I picked it up in standby and it came on by itself! What’supwiththat?
Edit: And a third time, this time I’m holding it, in standby, moving it around and looking for how it happened and nothing, then suddenly, while holding it still, On! Something isn’t right here, for sure, good thing it has the tail switch lockout!
That could happen if there's a momentary cut in power, because from power up, it goes to last used level, and if in ramping you ramped up to max, last used is max. Maybe something flaky in the tailcap? Intermittent ground connection?
Edit: I can’t duplicate the sudden on with 21700’s in place, so yeah, it’s probably the battery contacts with the short Molicel 18650 flat tops. I’ll check it out, do spring bypasses, see what’s shakin…
The reflector seems to be fine, it’s deeper than the pictures made it look, the orange peel is the large variety not small/fine, but it works well so I can’t complain at this point. Overall it seems quite well made which is really no surprise from Sofirn.
I have to admit, the reflector fooled me. It’s pretty nice, good beam, almost dark here at 3:44PM but not worth trying to shine a flashlight, storming like all get out!

For Throw , SP70 it’s good ?
I need a powerfull flood + throw.
I have S70S and L6 NEW (xhp70.2 + SMO). L6 new it’s more better for throw (+ minimum 50-100m than S70S).
SP70 it’s more better than L6 new for throw (distance) ?
I have Astrolux MF04 but I do not like it, it only has a concentrated point, and it’s barely visible on its edges. Convoy L6 is very strong on the side and at least 650m away.
The L6 you got there should be the better thrower compared to the S70S, but I don't know the #'s of the new stock L6 SMO - if the specs are right at 4300 lumens and up to 500m, then this SP70 would be wayyy better in total lumens, wider spill, as wide or wider hot spot, and ~800 meters throw on good cells.
I’m really tempted to simply hand wire in a ATtiny85 and see if I can get NarsilM working. I see two output channels – the FET and the 3 legged part, like a regulator but don’t know the specs of the part. I’ve done this before with a 1 channel driver and got it working, just had to sacrifice the reverse polarity protection diode:
Maybe one of Wight’s Pic to Attiny adapter boards would help.

Convoy L6 (XHP70 N2-3A neutral-white, 3800 lumens, stock OP reflector):
Convoy L6 (XHP70.2 P2-3C neutral-white, "4300 lumens", stock SMO reflector)
Sofirn SP70 (XHP70.2, "5500" lumens, stock OP reflector)
SP70 seems to have similar throw to the Sofirn Q8, but SP70 looks brighter and more focused
Has anyone tried the SP70 with the Sofirn HD 25A 26650 batteries? Any lumen/cd output numbers?
Aliexpress now has the option of purchasing the SP70 with the HD batteries/charger. Nice. The option adds $15 to the price. If you don’t want the charger, its cheaper to separately buy two HDs at about $13.50 for both.
I should be getting my SP70 in the next few days. They couldn’t send it express because it’s got batteries. I think they are the HD batteries plus they sent the SMO reflector. So I’ll be testing all these soon.

SMO reflector???? Is it going to be an option too? If so, I’m gonna wait on my purchase until I see your test although the original photo of the SMO beamshot was a bit ringy. At this point I will probably just stick with the stock OP reflector but your review will be interesting nonetheless.
I hope the HD batteries turn out decent. I already bought some from the Aliexpress Sofirn store along with a few C8T lights – received them in California in less than 2 weeks. Pretty fast shipping and comparable to regular Amazon shipping times.
I remember back when I got the L6 it was said that 2 cells in series must both be protected
So butting up 2 unprotected 26650s is now ok with this SP70?
That was bogus then just as it is now. Protected cells are for newbies who do not check cell voltage before charging or capacity after recharging.
If you are a more experienced user, you will check these things to make sure both cells are healthy. You also want to marry the cells so they are always used together. This allows them to wear at the same rate.
Once you get above 10A or so most protected cells will not even give full output to might trip the protection circuit. Some protected cells just limit all current to 10A. So unprotected high drain is what you need for the highest amperage and output.
BTW, the stock L6 is limited to about 5A-6A so protected cells work just fine.

Gravity + not good connection with series batteries?
8300 start lumens on a pair of 30T’s.
Edit: I can’t duplicate the sudden on with 21700’s in place, so yeah, it’s probably the battery contacts with the short Molicel 18650 flat tops. I’ll check it out, do spring bypasses, see what’s shakin…

Bypassed the springs top and bottom with 20ga Turnigy wire, now on fully charged 30T’s it does a start value of 8940 lumens.
Makes sense Dale to what I'm seeing - 8640 @start with the 2070C cells. 30T's should do better.
I have to admit, the reflector fooled me. It’s pretty nice, good beam, almost dark here at 3:44PM but not worth trying to shine a flashlight, storming like all get out!
I’m looking forward to it being a goldilocks. Something that falls in the middle of flood and throw. Flow-er? Throwflo? Flooth?

Mine’s finally arrived – if only in the country. Shipped 12th April and just arrived in Sydney for clearance. Hopefully get it by the end of next week
L-P, more like…
Ooh, mine will arrive tomorrow courtesy of the Amazon van.
... I haven't gotten around to buying my second pair of 26650s though, so I won't have side-by-side comparisons.

When my 26650s arrive, I will do a comparison with my L6 as well.
I'm happy with everything except the tail switch function. I think I may need to mod it because of this...
Has anyone had the side switch apart yet? If not, I'll get to it eventually.
