Sky Lumen Nguyen Flashlight

That’s completely untrue. I don’t think you looked at the whole thread or his videos. This is a completely new light being launched by Vinh.

Have you ever looked at the prices for PFlexPro semi-customs?

I don’t buy your argument on some components being sourced from outside the US meaning “not made in US” either. Cells phones have much of their electronics manufactured in Korea or Japan and yet are listed as “Made in China” as that is where final assembly happens.

Is there evidence that Overready sources only US-maunfactured for Every. Single. Component. in their lights? The boards are custom AFAIK, but where do you think the chips, wiring, etc. are made?

SLN Test 13: 4 Story Drop

Vinh, what size is your 12 emitter board? Will you be using it in your flashlight mods? Will you sell those separately to modders?

About 23.8mm
A special light engine is in design just for this custom MCPCB to be used in SLN
I might use it in other lights as well
I might ask Richard to help me sell some as I don’t sell parts to avoid stepping on his toes
Nothing is decided yet and the MCPCB and copper light engine for it is still in design

Dents from the fall

Wow that’s quite the dents!

The impact & drag test on the same day put dens just like that on another cell.

The 4 story hit must he HARD because it put similar dents with just 2 hits.

Definitely a very strong well built light. :+1: Great work as always Vinh! :sunglasses:

IMHO you can avoid batteries looking like that by separating the connected-at-all-times aspect of the spring from the absorb-the-total-impact aspect.
Absorb the impact by, let’s say, a fat soft rubber cylinder shaped ring around the spring.
That way the fully compressed spring does not have to behave like a steel nail.
The soft ring can deal with unbelievable forces, because it is surrounded by a massive tube.

Just saying. The spring only has to deliver the juice. Give it some body guards.
But maybe you already have thought of that and I’m only kicking in an open door (Dutch expression).

Genius!

how would this compare to a Malkoff ?

Wow,nice work.

Looks like very durable light withstanding many torture tests. :+1:

I modded a Hounddog or something like that sometime ago and I remember this light was excellent in build quality and design. This is my debut light with simple designs which is not on the level of any major brand.

Yes, Vinh, this is a good idea. Malkoff, for example, sells thick o-rings to be placed around the springs, known as “battery bumpers.” The idea has been discussed before, on the other flashlight forum (search for battery bumper), and perhaps here on BLF, as well. These bumpers are often a simple user add-on, using various common o-rings. Back in the 2000’s, Peak used to accomplish the same thing with neoprene “donuts” glued in place.

Looing forward to the SLN!

I will look into finding a good fit bumper disc.

It seems that vinh’s drive over video test went viral on social media, now more people want to do the same with their stuff :

thanks.

also is this OK as an EDC?.

EDC only if this is ur duty/work light. It’s too big n heavy for a light u keep in your front pocket just for emergency. There r way better lights for that.

Some of us are from Texas, that’s how we roll. Big guns, big trucks, big lights, big etc or edc.
