Sofirn C01S SST-20 4.000K 95CRI / Low-High version available again!

Good to hear, thanks for getting us a final word! I already ordered 2 off the Sofirnlight web store, so I’m glad to hear the product images shown were accurate.

I ordered the orange one, in addition to C01R. Maybe gonna one more colour soon. If only it got a true (usually 4 hour) middle mode like some other AAA light. Then it’s easy choice for me to order a couple more.

I ordered a green-bodied version a few days ago. A package showed up today. I said: “no way they got it here this quickly”. Nope, it was the C01R I had ordered and since forgotten about!

Well, the C01R is pretty amazing. The three modes of pure red are incredible. I’ll play with it more when night comes but just looking into closets, I’m impressed. The low is perfect for preserving night vision. The medium I’ll have to explore more. The high is surprisingly bright. Anyone know what the run times are like for the different modes here?

There are just 2 modes: high (100 lumens) and low (3 lumens).

The colors look great.

Will these colors, or at least some of them eventually be available for the LT1? I think that’s a great shade of green in particular for the lantern.

Yes I know. I hope that they will make 3 mode AAA in the future.

I’m also waiting for a 3 modes driver but with E21A 2000k

I’m waiting [forever] for a two-mode driver mid-hi. Moon is nonsense on a twisty.

That’s an unpopular opinion here but I agree. Less of a toy and more practical for me. Where I am, ambient light is good enough to replace moonlight most of the time. But when we really need the light, and without a bigger flashlight in hand, a 2 mode high and moonlight flashlight will effectively become single high mode flashlight. With less than 45 minutes workability. As thought batteries won’t be fully charged everyday.

Maybe I should explain: Moon preserves nightvision. But existing twisties cannot be reliably activated in moon mode. Don’t know how many have used one on a regular basis - I did, and I know mode jumping fairly well by bouncing contacts. A good debouncing algorithm should be used (a 10th of a second or so), and the C01S has none. If you need your nightvision and the light jumps to high mode, you’re done for the next minute or two.

is it ? i dont think so, its better having that on the smaller lights i think.

Just to understand this correctly...

You used a twisty light, usually starting on Moonlight, but it accidentally turned on with High mode because it interpreted one twist as two twists (which effectively cycled to High mode)?

Yes. That’s called bouncing.

Haven’t experience that. Since I don’t use twisties regularly. Usually used a tailswitched light.

It seems that not many share my view of usefulness of true middle mode. Sublumen or moonlight won’t show you creepy crawlies. But good for reading something in a jiffy.

For me, I found out that when I want a moonlight mode, to preserve my nightvision, I have other alternative, it’s never a pressing sitauation that may save you from something. It’s more of a wants and enjoyable game type of situation.

Would like that the nice c01r three mode trickle down to the c01s series.

Anyway I’m waiting for c01s to arrive to see if the 3 lm low mode is useful other than helping you goes to the toilet. Which I never needed. Hope that they will at least be better than smartphone camera light in helping you navigate safely if you’re ever in pressing situation.

Received my C01S. I can conclude imo that the current iteration of 2 mode C01S can fulfill your wants but not your need.

I asked Sofirn and maybe they will incorporate the new C01R UI into the next batch of C01S.

Got the new colors today (except the “new” blue, I already have 2 blues so maybe I’ll get the new one later). The new colors are the 4 on the right. I’m quite fond of the green and brown ones :+1:

How is the knurling on the raw AL? On the first run it was really rough, this looks like it might be similar to the ano ones?

Honestly it feels more grippy than the original to me. but here’s a macro shot to do the talking. Looks to me to be somewhat similar knurling, but the macro makes it look deeper, which makes sense as it feels grippier. I personally think it feels nice, but I think both lights do.

New on left - original on right
