What type of light would you like the next BLF Special Edition to be? As in developed by us over a year or so from scratch.... like it used to be

How about a light the size of an MF01S with 18 SST70s and tint shifting? A 30000lm popcan light would be nice. Currently we only have the X80-GT which is expensive.

Most high quality flashlight categories are available for somewhat easy purchase.

Except the supreme head torch which only BLF can bring.

…with tripod mount (as in the Q8 and ROT66 II), and decent heat sinking (>1,500lm sustained).

sofirn tried 3*21700 prototype which is too big, much bigger than Q8

But Q8 Pro with 4*XHP50.2(3V), SP36 Pro with 4* SST40 are tested in the lab, both have USBC charging port. I think SP36 Pro will be available soon.

Do they have a tripod mount?

Yes, please do a tripod mount. Missing the tripod mount on the SP36 that I currently have.

I’d be very interested in a Q8 w/ XHP50.2 - added feature with USB C charging.

Tripod mount - can screw an eye attachment for lanyard.

And finally add the LANYARD HOLE!!!

Interested.

Barry, it has been quite some time since 3V 5000K XHP50.2 were available. Do you think there’s still a chance to get them?

^ I am all for this! Anduril SC64c LE

I would like to see something like this as well.
Chris

OK, Here it is, lol. What about a torch that can sustain its highest setting for hours and not just minutes at best. A max of 600 to 800lm with enough mass for cooling and powered by three 21700 cells. Use the Anduril UI and maybe a TIR for both flood and decent throw. instead of overdriving an emitter maximize it for longevity, 600 to 800lm in the right body should be able to run without overheating for hours or until LVP kicks in. I think we have enough super duper I can blind you from a mile away and light up an entire county at the same time flashlights lol. It’s not always about power, I guess what I am trying to say is more battery and less lumens. I want a long hauler  Low horsepower lots of torque and tons of fuel

Personally I think pop can lights should be able to sustain at least 1500lm. It’s a shame that quite a few don’t - such as the ROT66 GenII.

:+1:

I love this about the Q8. I run it well above half way for extended periods. It’s a comfortable hand warmer on cold nights.

WOW!!!

I am interested!!!

I am also interested in spare Q8 MCPCB with 5050 footprint.

The original BLF Q8 was a fantastic light - tripod mount, good heat handling, good neutral tint, compatible diffuser, and Narsil UI allowing ramping or choice of 12 stepped modes.
Everything since has been a step backwards.

Yeh. All it needed was charging and it would’ve been ideal. Needing to break out a 4-bay charger each time, then having to screw with the dinky O-ring that did what it could to try to escape every time it needed to be opened’n’closed, was the biggest pain in the ass.

That inconvenience is why I switched to a DC7 as my go-to big donk. Cooler and throwier vs warmer and floodier as I like, and a dumbed-down UI vs Narsim, yet being able to charge all 4 cells in situ is what wins out.

And I get the feeling any “Q8 Pro” will still have the cooler/throwier setup vs the original, and probably an overloaded UI.

I would love something like that.

Powerful right angle headlamp like the size of the fw3a
I’m in for 5
