ā€™Cause politicians are idiots? (Yeah, I know, itā€™s stating the obvious.)

I remember during the Gas Crisisā„¢ in the ā€˜70s, you were limited to something ridiculous like 2gal or gasoline per trip. So instead of gassing up once during the week to get backā€™nā€™forth to work (no such thing as working remotely, working from home, or telecommuting, back then), youā€™d instead have to sit in long lines on odd/even days (and thatā€™s if you could manage 2 daysā€™ worth of travel backā€™nā€™forth on that), letting the car idle all that time or just killing your starter and battery every time you moved up a notch. Worst case, youā€™d have to wait on those lines in the morning before work, then at home at night when youā€™d get back. Or who knows, maybe get your 2gal then head right back to the end of the line for 2 more. Ridiculous.

They probably think that ā€œillegal gatheringsā€ are going on at night, or that everyone should only be out during business hours and then stay home, when in fact the Unintended Consequencesā„¢ that even an astute 6yo would grasp, would dictate that now everyone who could do things in the sparseness of night, gets crowded into a tighter spot with everyone else who has to go shopping during the day.

Remember one-way supermarket aisles? If you forget something, ratherā€™n going back half an aisle to grab it, youā€™d have to loop around through another aisle and then back, encountering even more people than youā€™d otherwise go past.

Politicians are like managers who think only in soundbites, and anything more complex than a dozen or so 1-syllable words ends up when them just glazing over and wanting a ā€œsimpleā€ answer. So if it sounds good, it therefore must be good, when anyone with moreā€™n 2 functional braincells to rub together can see how disastrous it might be.

In short, itā€™s business as usual. :confounded:

Oh, quick example. The house on the corner with their usual warm-weather luaus where everyone practically licks each other on the face, would still be having their parties. If there were any nighttime curfews imposed here, they wouldnā€™t stop having parties, but just having their guests crammed inside overnight for a sleepover, then leaving the next morning. Can you say ā€œsuperspreader eventā€? I knew you could.

Funny part? Having them stay over would likely be perfectly legal. Itā€™s that going home at night that would be illegal.

Awwwww, and I had several of them chambered up and ready to goā€¦ā€¦

What, cats or cat treats?

Opinionsā€¦ā€¦ā€¦

LOL! :+1:

I caught it. I fought it. I survived it. I picked up the pieces and moved forward.

You were one of the first ones here on BLF to catch it as far as I know. Really glad you pulled through! Great to see you here DBSAR.

Just donā€™t take Zeneca.

Had my first Astra-Zeneca jab two weeks ago. No impact to me other than a slightly sore upper arm for a day.

Would it have been nice to get the ā€˜Cadillac versionā€™ Pfizer vaccine? Maybe. Was I willing to wait potentially months more to get it? No.

My $0.02: Any vaccine you get is a good one.

I wasn't aware that Astra-Zeneca was approved in the U.S. yet.

I donā€™t think USA is the only country with a west coast.

Oops!

LOL, that could happen to anyone, RC.
Anyone American that is.
Weā€™re pretty sure when ā€œwest coastā€ is mentioned, itā€™s us. :smiling_imp:

Thanks SB. It was a rough few weeks, and happened as i was preparing to move across the country. But i fought it, and still here to keep enjoying what i do!

Any lingering side effects?

Finally got scheduled at Walmart, anybody have thoughts about whether I should wait for my general practitioner to get the supplies?

IMHO Iā€™d go for it. With a high turnover itā€™s likely that the Walmart vaccine will be hot of the presses.
No telling how long the docā€™s will have been traveling through the system.
All the Best,
Jeff

All things being equal Iā€™d take it at the first place that I could get a shot. However I would wait maybe a few weeks if it meant getting the J&J later as opposed to the Moderna or Pfizer. The reason is that the J&J trialed when there were more variants around than the other 2. The fact that itā€™s a single shot is a plus but not as much as the other reason I stated.

But in the end getting a vaccine is the most important thing in my opinion,
