I’d love to get this one after Sofirn finished their SP10S Andruil version!

Interested in two (2).

Thank you.

Interested.
By the way, how about using far red LED (720-740 nm) like Cree XPEBFR ?

Are the 18650 lights going to get an update too?

So it’s august now (where I live), can we please get an update on SP10R?
Kinda want to have that one :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, C01R seems to be unavailable everywhere, is it ever going to return to production?

SP10R is still postponed until further notice. Sofirn has to assess supply and demand for this model and costs are a crucial point, too. SP10R would need a different driver than SP10 Pro due to a different forward voltage of SST-20 DR.

Top priority now is SP10 Pro with LH351D.

C01R is probably discontinued indefinitely for reasons of high material costs and low margin.

wow that strange, i thought C01R is a very popular light? they stop produce it ? :frowning: dont understand high costs for such light ?

sad to hear but thank you very much for the info Lux-Perpetua!
well I can imagine paying more than 8$ for the C01R, 16$ would start to hurt but 12$ would be nice…
we all know these are niche products with limited demand, I’d rather have one than not even if I had to pay a bit more.
this also applies to SP10R, it may very well be a bit more expensive than SP10S (white)!

Maybe you/sofirn could make a poll so BLF agrees on how much more expensive niche products (special emitters, special firmware) are allowed to be at most in %.
I’d add an example for say a 20$ flashlight so it becomes more realistic and a bit of insight into how much more expensive that is for the manufacturer (e.g. additional cost of development time, manufacturing).

Then when a special edition light is requested and comes out they can relate the price to that poll or explain why it has to be more than the percentage in the poll (e.g. difficulties in development, sourcing parts, very limited production runs).

I think that a lot of people here would understand and the transparency would sway more people to judge a product “worth it”, despite higher prices.
It’s also how suppiers for big companies share information with their customers (e.g. in the autmotive parts sector), except we sure aren’t going to pull a “Oy m8, you have to become 5-10% cheaper every year or we’ll stop sourcing from you!” like it’s usually done in that bussiness, despite profit per part already being <0,01$. :person_facepalming:

They should have at least let us know they were going to discontinue it and give us one opportunity to buy them first. I would have ordered half a dozen even at $10 each if I had known they would never be available again.

This. And I would have still bought 2 or 3 if they were 15.

Had I known they were to be discontinued, I would have bought a few more

Yeah, I understand that you are unpleasantly surprised. I was not aware of this cost problem either, at least not to this extent. It must have something to do with the (pricy) driver which apparently does not fit to anything else but SST-20 DR 660nm. C01R is for sure a slow-seller, something that blocks Sofirn's stock at Amazon for quite some time and causing high storage costs. Another challenge is to determine a good lot size in production. Another 250 pcs only will for sure drive the price too high, making a thousand pcs will require them to put these a long time on storage which is causing costs again, see previous phrase. Last but not least, I cannot look behind Sofirn's curtain and their management decisions. It's a tough challenge on the market and production capacities are highly limited.

Anyway, I will keep on asking Barry every once in a while to revive C01R (and other variations of that model) but don't hold your breath for C01R coming back anytime soon...

Please don't get me wrong but I doubt that's going to work out because...

  • The current market for components (semiconductors, batteries, raw materials like Al, Cu, Fe) is very volatile, prices are unpredictable. No manufacturer will commit to any fix numbers in times like these.
  • Running and closely observing such a poll is time-consuming, I doubt Barry, Jackie or someone from Sofirn's sales team have the time for these things...again, no offense - just my personal opinion. Me, I am currently too much involved in other work, e.g. Andúril 2 manual, LT1-mini & LT2 project, SP10 Pro.
  • I am not sure if the outcome of such a poll will give a clear result in percentage as you lined out in your suggestion. The willingness to spend a certain markup onto the standard price is very individual.

I did not mean to discourage you, though. Feel free to run such a poll and maybe the impact on Sofirn's decision making will be higher than I expect right now.

I would want a Aa/14500 version even more, perfect companion to lumintop tool uv, which is $30 on amazon.

bummer about C01R really nice host and light, cant understand the demand was low on those, thought it was a bestseller for sofirn :frowning:
