A warning of a (possibly) dodgy light seller and a zoomie inquiry:
An odd thing happened with my aforementioned Peetpen L45 order via Sinofire US on Amazon.
A Peetpen L21 arrived today instead of the L45.
When I clicked on my order, to verify I had ordered the correct light, the link was dead. There were two active listings for the L45 when I placed the order—the one with a huge discount I bought and the other at what appeared to be the regular price of ~ $19.00 (which had over 1,000+ ratings, IIRC)—however I could no longer find either listing.
I am not sure if both listings were being offered by the same merchant.
On the phone customer service said I could keep the L21 and receive either store credit or a refund to my card. I accepted the former option.
Two questions:
Does anyone know of another decent zoomie* on Amazon—preferably on sale/at a low price so if it stinks I won’t mind? The L45 looked pretty good, considering the discount and the novelty of the seemingly decent throw it offered with its twist focusing function.
The following is an admittedly niche query:
Has anyone else experienced issues with Sinofire US—or heard of/experienced a similar issue happening where a listing(s) for the same product disappear from the site at the same time after receiving the wrong item?
I can’t understand why this would have happened, perhaps it is some odd bait and switch—or a way to clear unwanted inventory from a shop’s warehouse?
*I know the concept of a “decent zoomie” is heretical to some in these parts, and maybe such a thing doesn’t even exist.
I’m impressed with how long the Rofis MR50 can maintain it’s highest brightness setting. After the initial stepdown, it maintained a constant brightness for 3 hours, and it didn’t get too hot either. The boost driver appears very efficient.
Just got mine and it does have a pretty greenish tint. But for $13 shipped and with a 1450 battery included I can live with the tint. Especially since it’s going into my car’s glove box so I’ll probably never see it
It’s a really nice light! One oddity is that the included 21700 cell is significantly larger than any other 21700 battery I have; it won’t even fit into any of my chargers or 21700 lights.
Yeah the included 21700 is quite large but fits in my Vapcell S4 charger. Surprisingly the much smaller LG M50 21700 battery works just fine with the MR50.
I received the Wuben C5 the other day. Some thoughts:
- It’s exactly as slippery as it looks, which is “very.”
- The UI is ok. I’d rather have double-click from off be turbo instead of strobe. Not memorizing moonlight when accessed via a hold from off is nice though.
- Good mode spacing.
The tint is horrendous, unless you like a green hotspot with purple spill.
The LED on mine was quite a bit off-center. It didn’t bother me too much because the tint was so bad I knew I’d never use the light anyway. I began trying to remove the bezel for an emitter swap. A heat gun plus grippy rubber gloves wasn’t working. I got fed up and used two pliers. The gouges give the light some much-needed grip. They used lots of threadlocker
My iron had trouble melting their solder. I think the centering issue was due to the weird bowl-shaped gasket they used. I guess as a plus it prevents electrical shorts on the underside of the reflector - something I’ve been having trouble with lately. A 16mm MCPCB requires no modification.
With a 219b 3500k the light is much better. I can see LED petals and slight off-centering if I look for it. I think I’ll add some diffusion film and it will be perfect.
I feel it was a good deal at $10 (plus $5 and lots of aggravation for a new emitter). I see it’s at $26 now. I think there are much better options at that price point, especially if you are even somewhat of a tint snob like me.
