Way back when (and I’m sure you know this), neutral white meant LEDs that were warmer (like 5000K) than cool white.
I bought a cool white Sunwayman D40A back in 2014 to get the most lumens, and then bought the neutral white version soon afterwards. I sure liked the neutral one better! We’ve come a long way since then!
I like them a lot, beam wise seems similar to a LH351D, I like the color, very even, not a lot of tint one way or another.
Still waiting for my Oshpark boards to flash it and it’ll be done. You guys weren’t kidding about pulling those wires back up through the MCPCB, what a pain!
Tip for when you are trying to pull difficult wires through an MPCB or shelf:
Solder long thin wires to the tips of the driver wires. These extra wires might be 2 or 3” long.
Use these wires as guidewires. Since they’re much longer and thinner you can easily thread them through a difficult MPCB or shelf. Then pull on them to pull the underlying driver wires through difficult openings and into position.
Once everything is threaded through, desolder and remove the guidewires.
Save the used guidewires for your next difficult install.
Today I modded new Wurkkos TS32. I changed flood emitters to Nichia 519A’s and central “throw” led to CULPM1.TG for additional throw from small central reflector. Everything was quite straightforward. Just dismantle everything one by one. And assemble in reversed order.
Flood channel became very good, throw channel has ringy beam that leans to one side a bit. Similar to Maglites throwy beam. Need to try different centering gaskets. Too bad it isn’t that easy. Flood channel pcb comes out with reflector, so it’s messy bussines with thermal paste after every removal.
Maybe I will leave out the screws connecting pcb and reflector after next try.
Not a mod, but looking for mod advice. Any of you have experience with charging circuits? I made a battery pack and would like to add USB-C 2-3A charging to it. Any advice or ideas on premade boards?
Here is the post from the chargers forum:
I have a project at home that I’ve been working on and I would love to add some fast-ish USB charging to it. It currently uses a 12,400mah battery pack with two married, but unprotected cells in parallel. These cells each have a standard charge current of 1.5A so I’m hoping for 3A. I’ve found a bunch of 1A boards on Aliexpress but anything higher powered has been a bit elusive.
I found a few options, but would take any advice on the quality of these circuits.
