Tailcap current on included fresh alkalines: 3.10A very quickly declining to about 2.5A where it continues declining slowly. I wonder how steady NiMh's would be?
Yes plastic reflector and lens dimensions 63.2 Diam x 57.4mm deep. Driver is 20mm press fit. Pill doesn't appear to be hollow. I didn't pull emitter up, but can see plenty of aluminum and plenty of thermal glue.
Damn bright too! Didn't shine outside yet, but bright as hell inside!
OK Garry, I’ll check the store by work this morning. What do you know, I happen to have a gift card to HD from X-mas!Good luck in the field today, it’s gonna be cold here in MD as well.Lukily one of the shop heaters is right over my bay!
Thanks betweenrides, wish we got defiant brand over here
It certainly sounds like a good potential mod host, it should take one 26650+ spacers, might get to keep it up at 3a for a while that way and retain the 3c capability 8)
Rough Whitewall shot (taken with my phone, for what it's worth, distance to wall approx. 10 feet):
By the way, it was 1°F outside today at the site I worked at. Windchill at -15°F. Wasn't too bad really, so long as you dress for it. I usually jump at the opportunity to get out of the office into the field, but last night I was questioning my sanity at doing so this time!

(P.S. I'll try to come back with current draw on NiMh cells at a later time. I might have to charge them up first though.)
I guess I should have measured inside battery tube diameter and tried a 26650 cell for fit? Sorry. Wait! I have a 26650 (protected TF Flame) at work I can try! Be right back!
EDIT - Nope! Won't fit. Would have to bore the tube slightly. It can probably be done, but the tube isn't very thick. This would look like a monster in a single 26650 configuration!
If I get a chance I'll try to compare to my Small Sun ZY-T08 (similar throw to an HD2010). I bet it's close. And it would make for a heck of a mod with a 3.5A driver and XM-L U3 or XM-L2 (or XP-G2 @ 2.5A)!
I snagged one at Home Depot today. They were in an isle stand next to the padlocks. A quick check showed over 530 lumens when first switched on. After a couple of minutes of futzing it was at 483 lumens. So, Defiant looks to be a heck of a lot more honest than Coast (Coast G20 for $3 at Home Depot). I’ll try and do a full test run tonight.
