now i just need to wait for a reply on the modes it has. they email back surprisingly fast. i feel like a kid in a candy store right now
edit: i am also waiting back on shipping charges. hopefully that is included into the original quote. i had sent them a link to this thread also, so they can physically see the interest in this light. could be good advertising for them
Tell me what I'm missing here. It's basically a black SRK but with smaller individual reflectors. Same or less output (2000 lumens), less throw due to smaller reflectors. What am I not seeing here? The YL-U2 loo,s far more promising to me.
You may be right. Curious to see how this performs, and what the modes are! (edit: pulsar beat me to it…) To be fair, we don’t really know how the YL-U2 will perform yet either.
Between the two, I think this one looks better. Silly though it may seem, I think that is most of the reason for the interest here. Functional flaws could easily outweigh good looks though.
Thats a nice light.. the tail looks like a nitecore..
Please count me in, especially if they can send directly to Japan,...... not via US, because thats too expensive.
I dont think the YL-U2 is more promising, at least not to me... to each his own taste.
The YL-U2 will have a horrible PWM, like the L3.. and only 2 modes (yes, you can change the output of the first mode, but when you want to have a medium, you have to set it first..)
This one has 3..... (and 2 unnecessary blinkies)
the reflectors are a little smaller than the king it looks, but the FF your talking about, there is no info out there. no idea what the pwm is, no idea what they are really driven at. if the driver is no good in it, youll have to live with it, because im sure it will not be easy to swap a driver in it. the FF has a 57mm head, so what makes you think the reflectors are that much better in that?
this one uses the king driver, so if its not no good, you can swap texaspyros driver into it. which will be my plan anyways.
the FF does look good, but this one looks better to me.
ill be taking notes on what to send in my next email to them. try to get all answers in one reply instead of a bunch of short ones. im sure they are too busy to talk to me all day.
so far:
what are the high/med/low settings?
are the flashy modes hidden? if so what is the UI to to get to them?
how much current goes to each led?
how much will the shipping be? im sure this will be a flat rate to all countries, and im hoping that its included in the $28.26 i was quoted.
i may have missed something, i was up late and i just woke up... let me know
edit: once i get some more answers tonight, i will update the main post with all the details. shipping costs, mode order and UI, dimensions... ill try to get all the info there for people not reading the whole thread
Hey, I’m just asking. The FF head is only 2mm smaller than the SRK but the reflector could easily be the same size. 2mm in head O.D. is easy to trim off and not effect the usable reflector size. I just don’t care for the smaller individual reflectors. I’d much rather have the larger overlapping reflectors like the SRK. If small, individual reflectors were better the TK75 wouldn’t be a better thrower than the Terminator. I have a Rustu RX40 in line for review that has 4 individual reflectors in a 75mm head and I can tell you it’s not that great. It’s just a preference thing with me but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something great that the rest of you were seeing. I hope this light is a good as you hope. If so I’ll add it to my list.
I did put in a product request for it at FT. Who knows...maybe they will carry it soon. ;)
just the fact that its a redesigned king is whats so appealing to me. i despise the kings styling. this one looks much, much better in my eyes.
the fact it will take texaspyros custom driver is another huge selling point to me.
i will ask them if they can provide it with the original m6 reflector also, if there is enough interest.
theres just too much unknown for me with the FF. if there is horrible PWM, your stuck with it, or hack a driver into it and loose functionality of the host itself (dual side switches, LED battery indicator)... the blue on gray does look great to me though
