OK,
Got my Tangsfire today.
Pulls 3.52 amps on both the Trustfire Flames and on Panasonic 3400 protected’s. I do not have any IMR batteries in 18650 to try, but am confident it would pull more with them as is listed in the OP.
Anyway, fit and finish is very good, nice clean reflector, clean glass, small amount of lube on threads.
She is a keeper, very bright and has a nice defined hotspot. As with other lights with the East092 driver it comes on to high mode which suits me fine.
For the money I don’t know how you can do better. Finally a C8 that has good amperage right out of the box.
Tint is bright white but not purpley or green.
I may do a resistance mod with some braid on the driver spring and tailcap spring and remove the cap over the spring. Cap looks kinda cheesy anyway.
hmm…so i just recieved my tmart c8 today, and sadly to say, it was still beaten by my lightmalls xml2 c8
the lightmalls c8 has a bigger less defined hotspot, and has more spill/flood,
and the tmart c8 has a much nicer beam and tighter hotspot.
the lightmalls seems brighter and seems to throw further, but only judging by eye.
im using 20 R’s.
Same here. Got both of mine yesterday and neither perform very well. They don’t suck, but they are not much brighter than my standard C8s out there from any vendor. Granted, they are well built and very nice, with a defined hotspot, but they are blue as heck (no more U3s for me) and just not very impressive. I tested mine on unprotected 3400 Panas from FT. Didn’t spend long playing around, but I’ll do more some time tomorrow when I get back home.
Ooops, my 56 year old eyes couldn't make that out. Still, I wouldn't believe it's really a XM-L2 U3. There was one batch made by CREE, none we've heard of since. ArmyTek was the only manufacturer I heard of that actually got them, and since, can't get anymore. For one vendor that has repeatedly claimed XM-L2 U3 emitter (willbuying.com), I did a pretty rigorous test on and proved them to be equal to a T6 bin in output.
Most likely, the manufacturers have left-over XM-L2 U3 labeled hosts, or they were hoping on more to come out, or they simply like to falsify the claims because they get away with it and they think they can sell more, or get a higher price. Lightmalls, TMART, various eBay and AliExpress sources are all the same. They can claim innocence because their sources are telling them the lies, or not. Doesn't mean I would boycott the vendors, but sometimes you just got to accept it like their outrageous lumens claims, or claims of regulated output at a specific amp level. What they use in place of the U3's is the question. If they use U2's, great, but if they use T6's, and/or bad tints like a T6 0D, that sucks.
This light is sounding like a T6 at best, based on the high amps and relatively low output. Might have something to do with the reflector too, because there is a lot of variations in C8 reflectors, some better than others.
