Itās fixed now. At least, I think itās fixed. Please let me know if itās not.
The site uses a HTTP Referer check because most of my bandwidth was being used for hotlinking on random peopleās blogs. At first I tried serving up a different image, an animated gif of Kermit the Frog humping a stuffed bunny, but that didnāt really help. It was funny, but didnāt improve the bandwidth situation. So instead I redirected those requests to a password-protected directory. That worked. The downside is that I have to add every domain (like BLF) to a whitelist if I actually want to host images from other sites.
BTW, if anyone is interested, Iāve mostly updated the BLF stylesheet for the Chrome āStylishā extension.
This basically re-themes BLF to make it a little easier on dark-adjusted eyes ā a dark theme instead of the default bright white theme. I put the files up here: http://toykeeper.net/torches/css/
ā¦ and here is an example of how it looks (click for full size):
Itās not complete yet, but itās getting there. There are a bunch of little details I havenāt chased down, like why thereās a big blank spot at the left side. Someone else wrote this originally, I updated it a bit, then after todayās site upgrade I had to update it quite a bit more. So, Iām not totally familiar with every line of CSSā¦ but it mostly works.
Iām apparently having DNS issues. In my work computer and phone on wifi (home and work wifi) the āslow dnsā link just redirects back to the same āweāre backā splash page. I canāt get to blf at all.
On my phone on LTE everything is working perfectly
Some routers keep a local DNS cache that may be slow to update. Thereās probably a feature to flush and renew that cache in the admin panel but its probably easier to just pull the plug and reboot them.
Iām not able to find the thread tools options where we can change the number of posts per page. It used to be at the bottom of every thread. Is anyone else having the same issue?
Thanks SB! Looking good. I do a lot of IT work myself so I feel your pain. I have a lot of poking around to do. I actually never thought the text was too small but now that I see the difference I like it!
I hope the rest all goes well. Man itās nice to be back.
Not that the little shoutbox wasnāt fun but this is a lot homier.
