YMMV, but I have not been impressed with Sunbeam products from Dollar Tree and the like. I bought a bunch of Sunbeam 95-watt incandescents when they stopped making 100-watts, and they do not last very long. I have also found Sunbeam CR123A batteries for a buck at Dollar Tree or Big Lots but they do not get very good reviews online.
That said, if they work for you, thatās a great deal.
The CFLs are probably generic just like most other CFLs and the quality is no different.
Iāve had very good results from āSunbeamā batteries; they used to be the best value I could find.
Compared to the CR2032ās from Fasttech, the Sunbeams are pure gold.
I ordered from FT and when I got them I thought they had shorted out during transit. So they sent another batch. Every one dead, both times.
I think we are getting too comfortable with no name products from chinese websites, the flashlights do well because they are simple and almost every model gets reviewed by a BLFer so we know what works and what to avoid, but the other stuff is plain garbage. Its basically dollar store rejects.
Here are some random discounts I came across that break the usual mold.
48ā replace LED tubes for existing florescent fixtures. $5.03 each
Here is a 2C cell MagLite that puts out a REAL 490 Lumen. It looks to me like it has an XM-L2 in it. I donāt know how they can drive it to 490 Lumen with 3V or less
I thought I had shot a pic of the D cell version. It was around 600 Lumen.
Here is why I canāt stop buying the bit sets. The holder with bits can be bought for less than the empty holder!
These have been in the first stage of the markdown at $15.00. Glad to see they are on their way down to the ā6ā and then possibly the ā3ā
I am especially proud of this find. The display says $3.88 (much cheaper than the autoparts stores or WalMart)
but they scan for $1.88
How did I know???
They came out at Black Friday at $1.88 and were available thru Christmas, but I was sleeping. To much other stuff and they sold out. For some reason, this store must have just pulled this display off the overhead and they rang up at the BF price.
I missed this deal, 10 cents on the dollar.
Of this bit set there were 2, I bought 1. Like I saidā¦ā¦ā¦
Another odd one. Tag says $16.00, it scans for $14.00. One to keep an eye on.
I thought for sure I found a penny deal here. Notice way in the back the tool with the Black and Red handle. Not just Red.
I was hoping the Black and Red handle was an older model that would ring up for a penny, but they each have the SAME UPC code.
I admit it, I was wholly unprepared to actually find it. I have been stalking this thread for a while now, finally got around to actually getting out in the field. :innocent:
The best deal on cfl I found were ge 13w (60w equivalent) $9.99 for a 10 pack at Marcās. In a light I kept on 24/7/365 it lasted over two years. Still using bulbs purchased ten years ago throughout the house. Even with a computer with a 1000w power supply (built with capacity for 8 drives and 3 video cards) constantly running the electric bill is never over $40 - last month was less than $30.
Time to bring this thread back to life from the depths of page 9. I picked up two of the 800 Lumen Husky LED Work Lights over lunch today for a penny a piece! Canāt post a pic until later.
On June 8th I shot this pic. Someone had placed these out of the way behind some other stuff. I know which store this is, my cell camera recorded the location. There is a chance these went unnoticedā¦ā¦.
See how poorly maintained the store is ? Those same lights are still tagged at $56
Great opportunity for any deals !
I plan to visit that store today. I will post the results.
BTW, I have scored other penny deals in the mean time. I will post those too, plus a bit of frustration I had at the self checkout.
Besides the opportunity to get some great deals at Home Depot, this thread has redeemed the lowly penny in my viewpoint. I used to ignore pennies I would see while taking my dogs for their walk. Not now! Itās a point of pride to not even pay the penny out of my earned money. I have found 13 cents on recent walks and used 5 for penny purchases so I am still 8 cents ahead! Iām just a modern-day hunter-gatherer.
