but what do you do with your lights?
annoy the neighbors?
provide free illumination for work crews on the highways?
flash morse code messages ay the International Space Station as it flies overhead?
I’m trying to think of some sort of online flashlight contest/competition we could have- like an old school postal match- pistols/air rifles/chess type thing/ Any ideas?
with my flashlight i hunt flying house guests in the air and then burn them in situ with a lighter. well, that works only well when room temperature is chilly and therefore they dont fly fast.
Annoying the neighbors is definitely part of the fun 
But honestly, most of the time I use them simply for lighting my way, lfinding the doorlock in the dark, or looking for things I dropped and that have rolled to that most inaccessible spot under the cupboard only the cat is able to reach.
Or looking for the cat. Or making the cat chase the hot spot. Or, occasionaly, for flagging down airplanes, but they don’t like that.
How did those postal air rifle contests work?
When asked what I use my lights for
I say that I tend to see more
When I shine my flashlight
And it lights up the night
Then I'm not in the dark anymore ...
What do I do with my flashlights? I order them. I wait impatiently for them to arrive. I collect them from the letterbox/post office. I play with them. I shine them at trees and walls. I disassemble them, reassemble them, fix them, mod them, show them off to friends and give some of them away.
Very occasionally, I actually use one or two of them.
After my old lady goes to bed (works at the hospital early, goes to sleep early) I turn off the lights, lounge in TV light, and navigate our apt with my lights. She thinks I am a bit of a wierdo for doing so… but it keeps the light from bothering her rest and I get to play with my toys, so we both win. 
Use them for working on my vehicles and putzing in the garage quite often, but I have certain ones for dirty/light & clean/heavy duty.
Use them in the car on night trips to mess with crap in my lap without turning the dome light on.
Sometimes do a bit of random spotting of stuff on the roadside as well. Just for giggles.
I use most of mine at work, I’m still making my mind up on which one joins my c8 q5 on permanent van duty, its probably going to be my m10, or I may get another m10 and mod my current one for home use.
I’m also finding my uniquefire uf-v3 impressive for work duty, its diminutive size is handy for pocket carry.
Otherwise I mainly use them for household tasks, take the bins out, check on disturbances, night light for baby feeding etc.
Not sure I’d be interested in a competition, but one way could be, pick a common light, then video a strip down, lube and reassemble, see who’s quickest, or who can do a driver emitter swap the fastest?

I do exactly the same thing.
but I think it might project the wrong image. 
walking in the park with my dog in the evening, mostly use my C8 with xml-t6, it’s the perfect combination between throw and flood, my C8 with xre-q5 is a bit to throwy for just walking, it’s good for shining on open field but not in a park
I use them to:
-play with them
-go for a walk (we have a hill like.. right behind our house)
-play with them
-use them for work
-light my way
-impress people
-illuminate parties at flooded gravel pits
-walk a dog (not mine, dont have one)
-play with them
I’m part of my neighborhood security watch/patrol.
My lights get the most use when I’m out and about.
I actually stopped 2 of my next door neighbors houses from being broken into because of my lights.
From what I’ve been hearing, the punks in my neighborhood now avoid trying anything around my house and my next door neighbors because they are afraid of being lit up.
Nice! What light did you use? I can just imagine their reaction when lit up with a DRY on turbo. 
I usually use a flashlight in work daily, but I’m not working at the moment due to the economic crisis, so I look for excuses to use them
I bring a light if I walk the dogs when it’s dark, and today, I put a few rolls of insulation down in the attic to try and keep the house warmer this winter. My Solarforce L2M came in handy for that. I had to wash the fiberglass off it after though.
Half of the year I have been in Africa, to finance that I am Manager of a chemical plant in USA.
In one there is no light, in the other I have to go out and see which chemical tanks are running over. Smiles
My wife has been asking this question lately. She wonders why I need more than one or two lights. She is supporting of my odd affinity though and bought me a SR King for my Bday. That’s one bright light.
I have a few trees down my street and out my back door that are 50m, 100m and 150m away. I use those to test the lights, but do worry what my neighbors must think.
It kind of makes me want to move to the country, where it’s always dark. I’ve also thought about taking camping or night walks up, just to have a reason to play.
I do like taking things apart and learning about electricity and electronics, so I find this a good medium for such things.
I often think back to being a boyscout and always being prepared. I think that might play a part in it…
Sometimes I play ninja in the house, trying not to wake up my 16mo old son, turning on unnecessary overhead lighting. Most evenings (wife works) I find myself moving through the house w/ all lights off and sitting in dark rooms, just to be able to use my lights.
LOL! No wonder non-flashaholics think we're nuts! We are! However, if I did anything like that my wife would really think I'm crazy! Heck, she made fun of me because I carried my fake solarforce L2 with 3 mode Ultrafire XM-L in a holster on my side one night when we had a bonfire in the rear of our property! (I thought that was pretty normal considering the surroundings/situation.)
