I got in some PowerGenix NiZn AA cells and charger from Ebay (4 cells, charger for $20).
All I can say is WOW! The light started out at around 240 lumens (4 times what it did on alkalines) but dropped to around 180 lumens after a minute. After 2 hours is was still brighter than new alkalines.
The plot starts off at 188 lumens. The center line of the plot area is 75 lumens. It reached 42 degrees C. At the end of the run, there was a pretty steep drop-off.
No telling how the NiZn cells will hold up over time, but they really spank that little Nichia MagLight. I bought the more expensive PowerGenix cells since they gotta be better than Chinese no-name cells? Right?

I thought they were the no name chinese cells... with a name, LOL. Glad to see they brightened up the light, they should.
