They are changing the driver to do 3 mins timer kick-down. I guess that’s ok…… after 3 mins just press again to ramp to max if you want. It’s just a timer.
The DRY can easily do 1 minute, no reason why this one cannot take it.
30 seconds is too short... I suppose this implies it gets too hot too fast? And why not space the modes better and the next one after the turbo to be at 2.8A or 3A and not down to 2.5A?
That’s one of the features that I like in a Fenix light. Their ‘turbo’ mode is not for hyping-up purposes only. Just like in a turbo-charged car, would you like one that cuts out at 80mph?
I would hope much cheaper than $140… as previously expressed in my other comment in the teaser thread, if it’s at that price we’re paying close to premium for a light, with which we can spend a little more and get almost the same light (tk70) but with a super clear AR coated glass (3% loss), a lower low and superb machining.
$140 is really pushing it for me and realistically, once it’s over $100 it becomes very hard to convince yourself to buy the light.
I would totally agree with you. If they market it good, then it would sell like candy. If not, only a few would touch it I suppose... similar to what you say, how many of us here would not buy one at $100? Many times there is more profit to make selling cheaper at larger quantities...
Pushing the price other brands come to mind. Earlier I was thinking that I remember a review where the TN30 on the highest can sustain something close to 3.2A on high, and that's with a much smaller head, 40mm smaller I think, so with less heat dissipation... so this one with a larger head why it cannot have a permanent turbo mode at 3.8A, or let's say at 3.5A? Just a question that keeps circling in my head... I am very enthusiastic about this light, but at the end we come back to what you get for the price you pay...
