im looking for an EDC. I have an Nitecore MH25 coming in the mail in a few weeks. But its to big to have in the pocket i recon.
So im looking for an EDC.
This are the lights that caught my interest:
Zebralight SC600
A bit expensive, but i maybe can be able to pull it off.
Seems to be a very reliable torch with good buildquality.
EDIT:
Zebralight H600
Just found out about this headlamp, and it could be one option…
Nitecore EC2
Very compact, good output and throw for the small size.
Cool and useful features. Havent seen an UI like this before, i havent seen alot torches though, but from what ive seen.
Ive heard some issues about this torch, that it takes in water at the head? But ive talked to Nitecore, and they said that
this problem was at the early batch. Can anyone confirm they’ve made it better?
Nitecore EC25
-Seems to be a smaller version of the EA4?
Looks very cool looking torch. Dont know about the size, but since it takes a 18650 it can be that big?
Nitecore EA4
-Dont know much about it. But it may be to big and heavy to carry in the pocket?
Which of these would be the best choice for an EDC? I’am open for other suggestions beyond these torches i mentioned above.
Yeah i know i kinda did. But I was looking for someone with experiences about these torches. Or anyone who knows something about them that i dont.
Like the Zebralight maybe is to expensive and not worth the price, or that its the best light of all these etc.
I also know that these are very different torches with different functions, and thats why i picked them. All these would work for me i guess.
I know that zebralight is a firm favorite with anyone who gets their hands on one.
I use the intloutdoor edc 18650 which is working well for me, and I have a trustfire t2 that’s just waiting for a driver and emitter to arrive - I want to try nw and eliminate the blinkies, the host though is excellent.
Okey i see.
Thing is, i like when the torch have small things like the red Beaconlight on the EC2, but i want the SC600 to. And the SC600 doesnt have anything, not even a Clip. Im not sure if im going to use that clip alot, but i still want that option.
Or tbh i want all of them, but i can only choose one so its very hard to choose…
I can't recommend any Zebralight enough! The user interface, build quality and compact size makes them a light worth every penny spent. I have 2 and will not part with them.
I will also say I'm obsessed with getting a Nitecore EC1. I thought they were ugly at first but they've since grown on me.
That’s a real personal choice depending on how badly you need a headlamp. My 2 ZL lights are both “SC” models and are far more useful as EDC than a headlamp “H” model would be for me. If you are dead set on getting an EC2 then maybe the H600 would be a better choice? That way you have a standard EDC with the EC2 and a headlamp (H600) that can double nicely as an EDC. I have an Ultrafire H6 (H600 clone) that is quite useful as an EDC even with the right angle emitter.
+1 for the Zebralight Sc600, I here the Sc600 mk2 is coming out soon. U2 XML and more output.
I also like the sc52, 280 lumens on a Nimh battery or Energizer lithium, and 500 lumens on a 14500. Been using artwork and I’m not used to that much output in such a small light.
I got an Ultrafire H4 now, and i like it very much. Problem is that i doesnt throw very far and it uses CR123 or 17670 batteries. As for the throw i knew in the beginning that it wouldnt throw that far, and i knew about the batteries to. But i want a thrower more than a floody beam.
Hmm… Maybe its better to get the EC2. Its small, throws quite well, alot of output for the size. But i dont get that “Wow” effect from the EC2 which i get from the H600.
I shouldnt not buy torches/headlamps just beacuase i can impress people, but i want to impress people.
The UF H4 is in my oppinion not for allround useage. Its for closer work, i would say work up to 15-20meters max.
I want throw with good spill.
i like nitecore EA4… it’s small enough to put it in your pocket ( it also come with a holster )provided you have baggy pant, unless you want to impress the ladies and put it in your front pocket
I like the EA4, but i almost have let it go now. I think it uses to many batteries, i dont know why i just feel that way.
If it were like TM11 or TM15, it would have been okey using 4 batteries, since the output is sick. But not 4 AA’s
Hahaha !
Aaand, i have a MH25 coming in the mail, 1-2 weeks maybe more.
And that would be my “Holster light”. For me its enough if i have one good headlamp, one good pocket torch, and one good holster torch.
And the Holster torch i can write of my list, almost sure it will fit my desires. Headlamp, i rather have the H600 than the Ultrafire H4 ofcourse.
Since the H600 is versatile than the H4.
So i really want the EC2 and H600, but the money limits me.
And lets say i buy the EC2, thats like 50$ i could have spend on a H600 instead. So i have to prioritize right… which is pretty hard for me
I know why it doesn’t appeal to me and it goes for all the new Sunwayman lights with the side-clicky. The switch sticks out further than the light and can be activated far too easily by accident. Another reason is the “belt” around the head where the switch is located is wider than the rest of the light. Just looks stupid to me. IMO the head/Bezel should be the widest part of a light or at least even with the rest of the body. This light just looks wrong even though my head says it has all the ingredients for a potentially awesome light.
