Mystery Skyray 3xT6 now with Mystery driver!

A couple weeks ago I got a Mystery Skyray 3x from Wallbuys. The driver in mine was terrible and I don’t mean just weak but really bad. So I ask them if they could do anything for me. They offered me a Free Code for their VIP instant kill. Value 5 cents. I declined and eventually they agreed to send me a new driver after taking all kinds of pictures and back and forths. Well it showed up today and it’s a mystery too. It’s too small and actually fits a unique fire 6T6 that I have and the numbers are close with only the number 5 being changed from 6 so I suspect it’s for a 5 emitter light. I know many of them will run 3 or 5 so I rewired the emitters to series and as I expected it would not run off of the 3.7 volt battery carrier. So I modded the battery carrier from parallel to series. (Thanks Chicago X) for the thread on yours. I started out with 20 gauge wire and frankly it scared me because it was too hot and the tint was looking iffy so I only ran it real quick. I pulled it back apart and rewired with normal gauge. I don’t even know exactly what gauge it is either so that’s a mystery as well. It’s heavier than it came with by quite a bit not not close to as heavy as 20 gauge maybe half that. I don’t think I will attempt to drive it any harder because it’s now very bright and gets very hot as well. The batteries are not getting hot so it’s not pulling too much current it’s just not a terribly well built light.

If I decide to tinker with it again I might actually melt down about 30 aluminum cans and pour that in the head and then drill the holes back out to make a better heatsink. It’s got a ton of extra room. I could put some L2’s on sinkpads in and go back to the heavy gauge wire then it would be a monster flooder. I doubt I will unless I get really bored though.

Well anyway it was a fun mod to do and for the money It’s now a pretty darn cool light.

pics? beamshots?
pics? beamshots?
I have not been successful at taking beamshots but here is some white wall hunting the SRK is on the left the mystery is on the right.

the Mystery Machine got another update. It's now running on a DRY driver with very heavy gauge wire everywhere and it has three de-domed XM-L2 U2's on 20mm stars on a ceiling bounce it's slightly brighter than my Terminator but after 30 seconds about even. The first pic is the Mystery Sky ray the second is the Terminator.
