Your precision screwdriver tools

I am looking for Torx drivers, researched the inet and found 3 interesting sets, do you have similar ones and what's your experience with them?

1) BEST BST 888A (vs. 888B) "Chrome-Vanadium Steel", 38pcs set:

official manufacturer's link: BEST

amazon rebranded links: 1, ... (seems popular)

fasttech link: FT

2) BEST BT 21068, 32pcs set:

official manufacturer's link: BEST

amazon rebranded links: not found!

fasttech link: FT

3) SHE.K TOOLS 9025 "Chrome-Vanadium Steel", 25pcs set:

Taobao's link: SHE.K

amazon rebranded links: 1, 2, ...

fasttech link: FT, DX, BG

trade company link: 1, 2, 3, ...

If you search amazon for similar screwdriver sets, most hits are Made In China products, just rebranded by Western brands. One of the better known or available Chinese brands seems to be the BEST brand by the manufacturer JLY (Shenzhen Jinliyang Technology Co.,Ltd.), check out the company video (open link with Windows Media Player or Internet Explorer, *.asf streaming is not supported by Firefox or VLC media player) lol My tweezers are from the BEST brand. Not bad stuff!

I am tending towards 888A, even though i believe that 9025 is slightly better quality. What do you think?

I have the last set from fastech, I put it in my maxpedition edc bag.
It is small and good build with a lot of different bits.

Thanks for the comment! :)

I have had the first one and it lasted a couple of years. It still functions but not when screws need force to turn since the head got loose from the body and it slips.

But if I had to pick one of these 3 sets I would probably try the last one. It has a much classier pouch and looks like less of a problem to put them back in or get them out. With the first one I had some struggles sometimes since the plastic bitholders came out of the box when pulling a bit out and it was annoying to put it back in.

Might even order it in the next couple of weeks just as an extra set to the ones I already have now.

I don’t know what you use them for, but all I need Torx driver for are my knife collection.
I’ve had lots, and I like This one for ease and portability. I have 150 high end folders, and this set does the job.

I have been tempted by this HUIJIAQI set, but I already have lots of bits from various older sets so it would only for those really odd security screws etc. that I don’t have and won’t buy separately.

Get a set from JoBenSr. at Lazy Lizard Gear. He carries Glede, T5 to T10, high quality and tough. I’ve used mine to free fasteners seated w/ Loctite.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions and reports!

I am going to use my set for my folding knives too. And household appliances.

Okay, i'll order the third set, Werner's. Looking forward!!

I bought a screwdriver handle and T bar in 1/4 inch square drive and a hex bit adapter then buy the bits as and when you need them. For knife maintenance Torx T6 and T8 is a good start, then double up for holding and turning. Amazon or ebay will have all the items you require without buying all the ones you’ll never use. Just buy the best that you can afford, cheap tools can cost you more in the long run.

i had thought about that.

if i need doubling up, i'll definitely ask a mate or neighbor for his set of torx.

i could ask him already .. but let's see first how far i get along with 1 single set.

I'll let you know when i got Werner's set and how much i like it, the quality.

I have a set similar to these:

And I also have one of these:

I have one of those too, but I can't remember where I got it. I want to say it was Northern Tool, but I cannot remember. It's a good enough set for stuff like we do.

The ones that I’ve bought recently come in pairs Convenient for holding and turning.
Handy for hlding Palm ratchet.

1/4 sq drv to hex scredriver bits.

All at once it’s not cheap but they last very well. Chances are unless you lose one it’ll be the last you have to buy.

I bought this wiha set in 2012 and it is still perfect. I was tired of the cheap harbor freight stuff and dropped the money for this set, I think it was money well spent. I would recommend looking into wiha if you feel you will use them enough. The stand it comes with is metal not clear acrylic like in the picture.

Wiha 92190 Master Benchtop Set

OMG that Wiha set looks sweet. I used to rave about my made-in-USA Craftsman Torx drivers until I stripped one of the drivers on my Kershaw Cryo. I’m sure they’ll replace it, but that’s not the point. I grew up around mechanics so I know the value of good tools, but it seems like it’s getting harder and harder to tell the good tools from the bad.

But I’ve never heard of Wiha before. The last time I knew anything about tools it was Snap-on, S-K, Matco and Mac.

Those look a lot better than what I’m using.

When I need a micro-screwdriver, the only one I currently own is a set that came out of a holiday cracker. It’s ridiculously cheap, but amazingly actually works.

I noticed Amazon has a basic set of Wiha Torx drivers for $28. Looks like a good brand, and thanks for the tip! They are definitely going in my next Prime order. Craftsman and Husky (and Kobalt) have really gone downhill lately. I have a set of USA-made Husky 3/8th tools that’s about 15 years old: ratchet, sockets and extensions, and now when I hold the same set in my hand at Home Despot, they don’t look anywhere near the same quality.

That looks like a great set, useful sizes.

Whia is one of the best screwdriver manufacturers.

It’s like the Fluke of multimeters, and all of its products are made in Germany.

They look fantastic, and there’s a few similar sets that look nice, too. I’m glad I saw this thread. I also see this is my 1,000th post so tradition here dictates I should give something away
