I agree with Krono – dam this company is making some good gear now.

Hi Tom – the company adopted all the recommended upgrades and have put them across the board in a whole range of lights. Hadn’t even heard of the M12 but it looks a beauty – kind of like an upgrade on the excellent HD2010 of recent years.

I have their new M24 lightweight Sniper hunting light and its a wee beauty – just 270gms, 25mm tube, build quality even better than the very good 2Xs of last year, and a great wee performer at 83k stock and 173 dedomed. If people liked the Skyray STL-V2/FF STL-V6, this new M24 is like a super development on them.

I will have a 2X sample here for testing next week – will do quick stock and dedomed test report asap. Look forward to hearing more on the M12 development. I think amanda said recently they will have their redesigned site up shortly.

You are right…MaxToch has been such a pleasure to deal with. I wish I had bought from them first off instead of buying 15 crappy lights…hoping for a winner. Their quality is more than worth the cost, and the CS and communications cannot be beat…period.

And mudgripz…I appreciate all the testing you do. You are a big reason why MaxToch has made significant improvements to their lineup. You really know your lights, and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on the 2X sample! I’m sure you’ll give it a good go-over.

Cheers,
krono

Sorry I’m late. I just come back from my holiday in my hometown.

To TexasToasted and kralyevski, the development of more powerful DX21 has never stopped. The new version should come out soon.

I have a photo of the new head for you. But I don’t know how to upload it here. It requires a Image URL, but the photo is in my computer, not online. Anyone can help?

Only 2S doesn’t ship to Australia. 2X, Sniper and DX21 are still available with worldwide shipping. The dealership is based on certain item, not whole brand.

Hey, MRsDNF, you sent me an email through Aliexpress, right? I just recalled that.

2S is distributed by the reseller. He only took one item’s distribution. 2X, Sniper and DX21 are not his interest. We still ship them to Australia. Group buy will also opened for Australia.

I’m kind of surprised that this isn’t generating more interest. The SN6×-2X is an awesome light! Fit and finish are as near perfect as any I’ve seen, bar none. With a simple resistor mod and a new emitter on a Noctigon, de-domed, this is my best thrower by a fair margin at 365Kcd. Pretty amazing!

That said, with one in the stable a second one only gaining an Strobe mode doesn’t appeal all that much.

The MAXToch answer to the HD2010 does appeal, however! I would really like to see how this style light can benefit from being better made by the folks at MAXToch. I have 2 HD2010’s, both utilizing Ryan’s copper pill and both doing quite well. The fit and finish on both are amongst the poorest quality in my collection though. So, with the size and overall style being very appealing, as well as the 26650 cell size and capacity, to have it built well and with an excellent anodizing would be fantastic!

The group buy price only appears to be about $5 in savings. So I’m tempted to go ahead and get one as it appears the SN6×-2X is winning the bid on this GB.

The month of April had lots of GB activity. It may be affecting this GB feeler. There were a few throwers from last month that is in direct competition in this category. But of course we know we have a better buy here as Maxtoch has a better build quality.
Both 2X and M12 goes with a free holster as well.

M12 is interesting. But it would be nice to know more about the build quality. Its quite a lot more expensive than an HD2010. And it probably needs to be modded with new driver anyway.

A teardown would be nice.

Also the discount in these Maxtoch group buys seems quite low compared to what we are used too.

That could be why it is lagging. What would I say to those that are on the fence? I wish I had bought a quality light like a MaxToch from the get-go, instead of the first 15 or so crappy lights I purchased. Besides my Fenix LD01 keychain light, they (SN6×-2X and DX21) are my go to lights.

Oh well, over-ruled for the M12 Frown. Still, glad to see the improvements they made. I'm leaving a messgae for Amanda bout a deal on the M12. I got a couple of Yezl Y3's, which are roughly in the same league as a better HD2010, but can't match the quality of a MaxToch still.

Picking up the new upgrade 2X sample from courier this afternoon so will have good look at quality and do field test, 6m lux test, plus runtime test. Then tomorrow night should be able to dedome it and redo testing.

Sincerely hope it is 120ish kcd stock because with just dedoming it will give 250k or so – and that’s 1000 meters ANSI – ideal for farm/outdoors/S&R/hunting spotlight.

New upgraded Maxtoch 2X: Quick review

This afternoon I received a sample of the new 2X and have now had opportunity to take a good look at it and do some testing. Light came in a very useful canvas carry bag with spare tailcap switch, rubber tailcap button, spare O-rings, good lanyard and guarantee card.

This is a beautifully made light – a step up from even last year’s fine 2X. Anodizing is better than last model, build quality is excellent, reflector perfect and new AR lens very clear. Threads are excellent and the light comes with double O-rings for IPX-8 waterproofing standard. Overall construction is 100%.

Lux tests will always vary depending on your light meter calibration and your batts, and I can only measure to 6m in completely dark conditions. My 6m measurement was 112kcd – which I think will improve to 120kcd or so at 10m – the best distance to truly measure throwers. Maxtoch did random testing and recorded 122 and 124kcd for two examples at 10m. This is a powerful thrower and I expect with just dedoming it will record 240-250kcd at 10m.

In an inital field test this beam is a real winner. The hotspot is actually quite wide and it is terrific for scanning wide areas quickly. The 120kcd throw also shows out at long range and the 2X picked out power poles at around 600 meters, and lots of objects past 400m.

This is another high quality light from Maxtoch. *They are really producing some very classy lights now and the 2X is a powerful, beautifully made light. I will start a runtime test shortly, but at this point I would advise anyone contemplating getting one to go do it. You won’t be disappointed.

I am looking forward to hearing of the new 2Xs running north of 350kcd. Will tune this one to that level also. As a stock light its a beauty – but at 350kcd it will be epic.

Is will be good to know the run time on 3400Mah battery and how good it dissipate the heat. By the way, how difficult to dedome this light?

Torch became quite warm over runtime test – mainly because it was sitting on the carpet with no air movement to cool it. Heat dissipation is fine.

Runtime with my panasonic 3100s on continuous high beam is 81 minutes – quite good for a powerful light. Has Hi/med/lo plus an innovative twist head feature which gives a fast strobe. Medium mode is 46kcd – very respectable and likely to give hours of runtime.

Impressive light. Now for the dedoming….

Did a quick 2 minute de-dome on the 2X. Very nicely made piece of kit. Nicely machined, threaded and anodized. Quite heavy. I really should have put dark sunglasses on before I tested the beam on the white door at 4m though. Steve
