Not my cup of tea. I will not buy anymore thorfire lights for this reason. I prefer ML, L, M and H.
I hate to be blinded upon first click of a EDC flashlight.
I feel the same way. But the ’05 is fine, goes L→H with memory, whereas the ’06 is H→L nomem.
Get the ’05.
(I should know, as I could open my own Thorfire Indirect shop. )

Or get the Sofirn SF14, Lumintop Tool AA, Enogear Stainless AA/14500, UltraTac A1, Jaxman E3, or Fenix E12. These are all solid flashlights that always start out in Low. But they are part of my collection so they have (1) no mode memory and (2) tail switches. There are numerous more AA/14500 flashlights that have memory and/or side switches - and start out in Low.
there’s actually a better deal now on Zanflare F1, 20% off coupon comes to $14.50. My previous attempt at ordering one failed when they sent me a notification that the package was damaged and could not be delivered, so they gave me a refund went to reorder it and saved another $1 with current coupon, a bucks a buck was annoying but turned out ok
Only experienced blindness with very high lumen lights against close objects. When using 14500 lights for inspections of dark areas, cycling through l-m to get to high is tedious . I have both UIs . They both have their uses but for daytime use instant high is ok.
As Blackbeard said, Amazon now has the Zanflare F1 for $18 with a clickable 20% off coupon. With free shipping on Amazon Prime, it ended up $15.56 after tax. Best deal I’ve seen on an F1 in awhile.
Deal seems to be only for CW tint.

weird, no tax in NJ unless its shipped and sold from amazon, I’m liking the light so far, gonna test it outside in a few hours, lots of accessories, good deal.

Yes, only does on/off (works for momentary use too). The electronic switch simply cycles modes.

Thanks for the info. I’m still on the fence about the F1.
No momentary on, it will 1/2 press momentary off though, not sure if they changed the tail switch…, but it has good output and decent tint for CW, and seems like a good mix of flood/throw(was very misty out so I can’t accurately assess throwing ability until I get a clear day,) it’s a little bigger in diameter then other lights in this class but overall a really good deal for under $15. It would be better if they had flared out the arms on pocket clip though, it comes unattached and seems like it might scratch light when trying to install.
was interested, but he deal is not huge, so I passed. More interested to know how you get info on all these deals before they happen.
On amazon home page, near the top is a link for “todays deals”
After you open that then apply filters on the left column, I use “home improvement, Sports and outdoors, Power and hand tools”, then apply the lightning deal filter below that section, then you can go through the pages and click watch deal under an item you are interested in, do this stuff on the website, on your phone you can enable notifications in amazon app and it will remind you when they start
Thanks. I got his one, pretty good light but pretty big.. Later I found that the NW version is also available and its a buck cheaper as well, wish I saw that before.
Snagged the NW a couple days ago on Amazon for $14.99 and the 20% coupon. Ended up costing $12.90 here in WA after tax. I’ve bought probably 6 or 8 of the F1 lights and this is least I’ve paid so far. Good deal.

Imho it,s a very bad nw buy yourself an emitter now before the light arrives.
Grab it as a gift for a friend. He has all kinds of different emitters. I just knew he liked them and wouldn’t buy one himself so I figured I would further enable his addiction.

I’ve bought a bunch of these for friends who didn’t want to order from China. At that price from Amazon, it’s a steal. It’s a really nice light.

Would you believe that I couldn't find any funny images with the words "tint snob" on them?
(Y'know, like, memes or demotivational posters.)
That makes me a sad raccoon.
How to Post Images on BLF // Many knives for sale (USA only)
How to move a thread // WTS Brand New Timex Expedition Vibe Shock Camo Watch (USA only)
Ironically, had Zanflare used cheaper regular glass, ir would’ve been fine.
I got a bunch of ‘em, and agree that CW isn’t as yellow-green as the NW. But most non-tint-snobs probably wouldn’t even notice.
Still, for the price it’s a damned good light. If you get it open, try it without the glass before refrying the emitter.
