I like the A3 with Nichia. It’s cheaper and slightly smaller than a few others, it resets to low (about 3-5 lumens) after a few seconds and there’s no PWM in any modes. Mine is labeled as A3 but it has Nichia 219c.

Thanks for that info! With this tint and UI it will get plenty of use.
I’m not militant about PWM but some lights really miss the mark by having too low frequency. The fact that I won’t have to mod it is money in the bank.
Looks like you’ve already been down the penlight path pretty far, I’m a ways back still but working on it.
This crazy hobby! As my life changes so do my lighting needs so it seems like there’s always something new to try. I don’t need nearly as much light at my new job but still need some light. These are small and light and don’t weigh me down. Eneloops make it an affordable solution.

The C2 is a neat flashlight if you can look past their choice of non standard battery. 14300 (250mAh) unique proprietary VS. 14500 (up to 1200mAh) standard commonly available . I’ll have to pass.

I just ordered four for ~$20, only because I just drank more (money) than that in beer (tasty microbrew IPAs) and are not thinking clearly (but are very hoppy).

How many flashlights does a "real man" need?

None, real men are not afraid of the dark.

I'll pass because it has disco modes that I think one cannot easily avoid.

It might be good for modders, though.

Wellp, my thinking is that the driver (with onboard charging) is pretty much married to the host, plus it looks like it’s even a driver-in-tailcap design, ie, no mention of having to have the light turned on to charge, in either the description or reviews. And if some putz is returning the light because it doesn’t come with a Crapfire cell even though it says that pretty clearly in the description, you know someone’d be returning it for “not charging”.

And no mention how to switch between flood and throw?

Dunno, sounds like Hell to mod, and worse to keep as-is.

Intriguing idea, though.

I'm just hoping it comes with the iPhone XS shown in the third picture and is better than a $2 Harbor Freight light.

I'll be using it with three 1.2 volt AAA NiMH batteries (and hope it runs OK at that lower voltage) but I don't expect it to charge (and it better not) at NiMH or alkaline voltages but I will also test it with a Li-ion battery (which is sure going to rattle around without o-ring spacers).  I am not a modder (yet), so the only mod I may do is to epoxy the charging port shut and not tell anyone it works with a Li-ion battery if I ever give any away instead of just throwing them away.

Thanks Srgaudio for posting this "deal".

Yes, that is most unfortunate and why I couldn’t bring myself to pay the usual $35 for one, but being as I have a specific albeit seldom use for a small 3000k high cri light, I can deal with the $18 and change it ended up costing.

I did see it claimed somewhere that 14250 batteries can be used with a spacer. Do you know if this is true?

Vokka Vokka Vokka I would give it a try if I could tell that both emitters on/off controlled separately. Both on at same time??

The C2 is really nice love the E21A but that darn weird battery is impossible to source without ordering in bulk from China.

Got my Vokka today. The finish feels good with no sharp edges or visible blemishes. The battery tube is about the diameter and length of a 26650 and has a lot of extra space inside for an 18650 to rattle around, but the springs seem strong enough to prevent it from happening despite a few vigorous attempts. Although there is a tail clicky, it does not completely turn off the light as half presses still turn it on no matter how many clicks you try and no tailcap lockout. USB charging seems to work, nothing special and hopefully it doesn’t compromise water resistance. Brightness seems better than average for a $5 flashlight today. With both LEDs on, the hotspot is not as bright as my Convoy C8, but it is much larger and probably more useful for general use. The color temperature seems to be pleasant, not too cool or warm, I’d guess in the 4k to 5k range. Overall it seems to be a good deal at this price, as long as the parasitic draw doesn’t prematurely kill the battery due to not having a true off or lockout.

If you need to light up your backyard vipon has a coupon for the Led motion sensor light going again for $13.99.

I got one the last time they ran the deal and its bright with adjustable beam. The add says 3500 lumen and I’d have to say that’s pretty close.
Similar output to a Q8, I used it to light up (Driveway and parking area) my sons basketball court. Big Smile
I wouldn’t buy it just to replace a outside light unless you need to light everything, its bright.

I’m on a penlight kick, ordered the A7P for work, pretty nice! 2 levels only, tint isn’t bad enough to swap emitter. No memory. Bought it for $11, went on sale for $7.99 the next day!

Saw that the A3N went on sale for $12.99 so I grabbed one for home use, can’t comment on it yet as it won’t be here until tomorrow or so.

Out of curiosity, got one of each.

The A7P works fine. Looks like a decent enough light.

The A3N is a lemon. Something’s definitely wrong with the switch, doesn’t switch modes reliably, can’t even turn the f’n thing off!

Great, sitting untouched, it just magically turned itself on again.

Guess I’ll be returning this one… Sick

Well heck, sorry to hear that. If you unscrew the section behind the clip it will expose the switch and you can try the switch without the rubber cover or silver button potentially interfering.
Possibly use some fine tweezers to make sure the driver is in firmly and the switch as well. Can’t be much more than that?
Or do what non-flashoholic people do: send it back and have a new one sent!

Yeh, I found out the hard way trying to stick in the cells that the tail only covers the switch end.

After it went mental, that’s the first thing I did, got rid of the interference and tried bapping the nekkid button. Still no joy.

So yeah, already put in for a return, Mr Oops is gonna pick it up tomorry.

Oh yeh, the other one’s nice. Makes a better vampyre than a 1×AAA light. Tossed in some dead cells, still lit up with rather decent brightness whereas my Wuben/Ultratac 1×AAA lights wouldn’t even turn on.

Thanks for the heads up . They are a kick arse light. Bought a 2nd one just for future use.

Got mine today and I agree with Kuoh.
It is pretty darn nice. The matte black ano is really nice, nice threads too.
Each led can light individually. Very bright with a 18650 and not as bright with AAA’s.

But I can’t turn the darn thing off!

You have to use 2 half clicks to change modes.
After the first half click the light is off, the second half click turns on the led.

So is it really off after the first half click…I don’t know….

On the Vodka.
Here’s what I read, fast and dirty;
First mode, both candles lit = 5.54 amp
Second mode, bigger reflector = 1.10 amp
Third mode, small reflector = 1.85 amp

Do no show any draw in between clicks but you must make contact with battery twice to change modes, bizarre. My meteris cheap, not a Fluke so there may be residual bleed that I can’t read but it has to be low if there.
All readings with low ohm purple IMR battery, has a big diamond with and E stenciled inside, whatever that brand is. Voltage before readings 4.15
Will check with Samsung 30Q as soon as it is topped off but these purples are usually a hair hotter than the 30Q

With Panasonic 3500 measured just over 5.04 on First mode.

Update; Just tried sample #2 and it wasn’t as high amp draw, off like 1 amp on high. Got battery tube loose (this one had brown glue) and cleaned edge of contact on paper and re assembled and got more power, went to 5.12 so still not as good as #1 but battery hasn’t been recharged either so will see when retested.

Another trick if you don’t care about water, flip over the conical ring, makes a good cigar grip.
Very interesting light for $5

I got my Vokka today. I’m ready to just toss it in the trash. It’s the worst light I’ve ever held, lol. The UI is garbage, the emitters suck. And it’s not even worth as a host since the body is way too huge for an 18650 but still doesn’t fit any other battery. Not worth it.
