I love the way you did but I also gave you a comment about the difficult in searching your device tested.
Would you mind to add the search functionality to let people can search by device name / brand name (full or a part), model…etc ?

Did you check these sites and use the in-browser search function (CTRL+F) ?
https://lygte-info.dk/info/indexUSB%20UK.html
https://lygte-info.dk/info/ChargerIndex%20UK.html
https://lygte-info.dk/info/ChargerDCIndex%20UK.html

Yeah, I did, but compare with the search functionality to limited the condition/filter the guest want to see, the search functionality of web browser will not be the good one

Dear HKJ,
Do you mind to have a look on this device ?
https://enerprof.de/en/chargers/power-adapters-5v/433/enerpower-ep-10b-5...

I tried to find Enpower USB 1 port 2A as your test but seem it was too old device so that could not find in the market, just can order enerpower-ep-10b-5v-2a-usb-black-10w now. Thank you

I've been looking for a DIY power bank case with some extra functionality and found an interesting device for the DIY crowd a while ago, an inexpensive power bank/mobile power supply box from (?) AILI, takes six cells in 3S2P arrangement:

Not yet interested in such a thing, at least not now, but thought I should share.

Seems a decent device but for it to work properly needless to say use good cells and preferably solder/spot weld the connections. Video:

And please, don't do like the following guy from this ad:

Hi HKJ,
could you have a look on this model (cheap but seem quite powerfull as I tested, output with current 1.03A) but not sure about its noise
ACA1AUSCWH3
I got from Lazada
https://www.lazada.vn/products/sac-energizer-cl-1a-1-cong-mau-trang_aca1...

I tried to contact with local DHL service to send it to EU area (you mentioned you are in Denmark) BUT the delivery cost is more than 12 times of the charger price, sorry, your living area is quite expensive so send smth like this charger Sad

Thanks

DHL is usually rather expensive to use, normal postal service is much cheaper. It might, of course, take a few month for it to arrive then.

Hello!

Just dropped by to say that I've found something interesting. It's an USB powered soldering iron, looks close to the one which once reviewer Dave from EEVblog tested:

But it evolved…

… into this new super cheap Aneng LT002 soldering iron!

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000650074912.html ≈€3.67/$4.01 shipping included there right now, crazy!

I bought the first version long ago, it's slick. Smile

That looks very interesting, except when you see the price.
I would need some serious donations before getting that, but I would also need to make some test equipment that can test power at 230VAC (I am sort of thinking about doing that).
The problem with testing 120/230VAC devices is to have a load that can handle AC at 350VACpeak with constant resistance (Constant current is basically useless, a high peak current test may be interesting).

I do not test solar panels. I do not have that much sunshine and I cannot easily simulate it.

Yea, 180€ is some money. What about asking the shop for an copy to review?

All of them offers at least 2 ports with eather PD or QC.
I’d add some more very interesting chargers.
And created some table for the features:

Sounds interesting, will you publish the results?
Do you want to spoil some general details, like what general topic it is about?

I believe everyone here on BLF knows the value of your work.
It’s really helpful.

I do not really want to review cheap soldering irons. It will work for small solder joins, but there is not enough power for larger stuff.
I usually use a 80W Weller temperature controlled iron and has a 120W as backup.

Have you seen the following soldering irons? They are small and portable but use t12 style tips that have the heating element at the very working end of the iron. They work very well. They use open source firmware that is easy to get and load and is also excellent.

I think manufacturer is Miniwave, sold on AliExpress from NovelLife store.

(original offering):
TS100 – 65w, power by 5.5×2.5mm DC jack, use LiPo battery or similar

newer:
TS80 – 18W, power by USB-C PD

brand new:
TS80P – 30W, power by USB-C PD

At first it sounds like 18W or 30W is not enough, but the cartridge type tip with inclusive heating element (is it called t12?) is amazing, they perform incredible for such “small” wattages, as good or even better than traditional 60W irons with the ceramic heater and slip-on tips.

I have the TS100 and uses it as a backup and portable soldering iron.

High power is usually not needed for soldering parts to a circuit board. Desoldering sometimes needs a lot of power and soldering heavy solid copper wires can also require a lot of heat.

I do test US USB chargers and use the US voltage and frequency (I have a AC generator that can simulate any mains voltage and frequency), but I mostly buy them in China. Buying stuff in US is way to expensive due to shipping. I do sometimes gets something from US or Canada, either because a company send it to me for review or because some guy buys it and sends it to me (I got a big box of batteries from a guy in Canada).

In many cases there is no difference between a US and EU models, except the plug.

That is a fairly expensive charger, but it looks interesting. I will think about it.

I am working on better automization for USB-C, they have been a PITA to test with 10 tests each taking about 20 minutes (And some other tests), I hope to automate that to one test. It may take 200 minutes, but I do not need to watch it. This is not directly related to my new test program ( https://lygte-info.dk/project/TestControllerIntro%20UK.html ), but it will be the controlling element.

No, they are mixed in with other USB stuff. I have not tested enough to make a special section.
