OK today though.

Yes, according to the provider it was due to a DOS attack that took out their network for a few hours.

So far I really like the “My Posts” functionality. Being searchable and showing the actual post content are big upgrades from before. However, I think it’s a little funny that there is a “Post title” column on that page but no titles in the actual threads Silly

Silly I’ll give you that. But it’s basically just because something is needed to click on to actually take you to the thread, and that was the easiest column to do that with.

No worries. FWIW I like the lack of post titles in the threads.

Looks good. This should make a wide variety of tasks much easier. Smile

(for example, if I go to my “My Posts” page and do a content search for “avatars”, it shows me every post I made where I embedded a different avatar inside the post)

can SB compare iP addresses to determine the prankster?

"It is critical that there is a credible academic source for the growing and important discipline of alternative facts. This field of study will just keep winning, and we knew that all the best people would want to be on board. There is a real risk in the world today that people might be getting their information about science from actual scientists"

OK, I just implemented another feature on a trial basis: For years I’ve been wanting to be able to search posts within a thread. I think I worked up a solution, as long as it doesn’t slam the server too hard. To try it out, hit the Search Within Thread tab.

I’ve wanted that very badly many times. I don’t need it today, but I’m sure I’ll need it soon.

Still fine, still on a break. One day I’ll catch up with you folks! previous wight catchup Wink

SB,

I stayed away from this thread for a few days as I know you have an insane backlog of “little things” to resolve. Great progress in the last few days!

Excruciatingly well done!

Provided you have evolved beyond the need for sleep all BLF glitches should be resolved in 28 days, 06 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. Beer

sb56637, thanks for all the work you put into this. Having just opened my forum to the public I know at a small level how much work is involved. Took me building my forum using 3 different forum apps before I found one that worked. Then having to go through and lock everything down and close all the security gaps (fingers crossed). Then…finding a nice level of registration that keeps bots and spam out while allowing real registrations in. Still working on that one. And I still have hardly any ‘real’ members..lol…most are fake accounts generated by me to at least get some content in there. Most of my threads are just me talking to myself. Got in a couple of arguments too.

Anyway, thanks for all the time, work, and $ invested so we can blow all our time, work, and $ on this hobby.

sb, you put up with a heckuva lot around here, and we appreciate what you do.  Smile

I don't know how much BLF sponsors pay for advertising, but I hope it's a lot!  Cash

Smile You guys have put up with plenty too, I really do appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding thus far; it’s been considerably less stressful for me thanks to that.

Wow, this feature is fantastic! I can’t begin to count the number of times I’ve sorta halfway remembered reading something in a thread but can’t find it again. Then the needle-in-a-haystack search begins loading pages of the thread one at a time and Ctrl-F’ing my way through it. This is great!

SB have you ever considered setting up a “tip jar” or any other way to donate to you and/or blf? I know you have ads and I hope they pay well, but I bet some of us would contribute directly, especially when you give us awesome stuff like that! Smile

I’m sure a lot of you would, and I really do appreciate the generosity and good will. But I personally never feel comfortable on websites with a donation button staring me in the face, so I don’t want to do that to BLF visitors. I just request that those who want to help to please disable their ad blockers for BLF, that’s all. Beer

Nice new touches, too. More information is displayed, making it even more useful than before.
