To me it appears to track what threads a user has viewed not just what was posted

Great job on the upgrade Big Smile

Still feels like the old BLF, but a bit more modern and with the addition of some better functions.

Well, I can’t see much need for that. And I’d agree with you, I don’t like the idea either.

Still not mobile friendly

Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.
I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you are going to remember about me.

It seems it can be made mobile friendly https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/website-software/d...
Google also says it’s not mobile friendly https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http%3A%2F%...
Tapatalk support seems dead in the water.

Also agreed. Thanks a lot for catching this. I had enabled it so that users can get lists of their previous posts, but I didn’t realize that it enabled everyone to see where everyone else was going on the site. It’s disabled now.

How much sleep have you had lately sb apart from not enough?

It’s been quite a run, I must admit. The thing is, when I have a major project like this on top of me I prefer to just concentrate and get it done before I lose track of the million-and-one odds and ends that come into play. Plus I didn’t want to get it set up and then go to bed for 8 hours, because I still wasn’t sure if I got the configuration right, and I didn’t want the site to go belly-up while I’m sleeping and leave everyone stranded again.

I’m using it from my phone right now. It works great. The style is pretty much the same on my phone, desktop, and even Dillo. If this is what “not mobile friendly” means, I hope BLF will inspire other sites to follow. Smile

Oh and by the way, does it still work with your minimal Dillo browser?

BTW, there is a nice new feature nobody mentioned yet. It is now possible to link directly to individual comments. I haven’t checked whether it works regardless of posts-per-page settings, but the URL style used suggests that it should.

The down side is that the new 50-posts-per-page default means all my bookmarks will need to be rewritten before they’ll work again. That’s not so hard though, and the new URL scheme should prevent any future issues.

At the risk of sounding like a suck up, thanks for all the hard work SB. Appreciate all the behind-the-scene work as well as the up-front-and-personal action. Grats on the improvements and getting the forum back up and running.

Yes, it looks better than ever. Smile

(I gave it a more thorough test just now, and it both looks better and works better than before… almost as nicely as in a full browser)

SB:

1. When the website was under construction, you posted a link to a Status Update blog … but you never posted any updates. The next time, could you post a message, especially after the scheduled completion time came and went, something like: “Sorry, guys! Still trying to sort through things (you know the routine, two steps forward – one step back). Don’t know when the site will be up. Thanks for your patience! Smile )”

2. I like the new colors and feel of the website.

3. +1 on the site navigation (first, previous, next, last arrows) being placed as both headers and footers. It’s the one feature that I was really hoping for under this revision.

4. No subject line on each individual response. Is that permanent or just something that will be worked on later?

5. Suggestion: Provide more separation space for “Log out”. Spacing is fine when using a mouse, but I’ve accidentally logged out several times when using touch screens.

6. Suggestion: Provide more separation space for “SPAM” button. I’ve accidentally hit the SPAM button (numerous occasions) when using touch screens on my tablet or iPhone.

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just noticed everyone’s location is gone. Will the locations come back? I doubt it matters much, but just wondering. Thanks again.

Thanks for getting us back up and running. Its strange that the temporary DNS link does not work for me. The only way I could get to the site was by using my VPN.

“Shout box”, what’s a shout box?

Sorry, I guess I’m just blog-challenged. I don’t have a Twitter account and I only use Facebook for access to various deals. Silly

I’ve noticed when i reply to a thread it does not automatically subscribe me to it like it used to

The Journal of Alternative Facts TM

"It is critical that there is a credible academic source for the growing and important discipline of alternative facts. This field of study will just keep winning, and we knew that all the best people would want to be on board. There is a real risk in the world today that people might be getting their information about science from actual scientists"

Yes! This is a huge improvement from what I can tell. It tends to get lost on my relatively slow Internet connection when there are a lot of heavy images before the post being linked to, causing the page to “bounce” as they load. But after the images are cached the direct post link does work if clicked again. I even tried it in the middle of the crazy long 1000+ comment threads.

I always wanted this fixed, the what you got today and home depot deals threads are the worst.
