REVIEW: NexTool “Glacial Pegasus” KT5006B (EDC tool - KO FUN SERIES)

First impressions:
Shipped from: NexTool for review purpose

But…which company is NexTool?
This is the same company called NexTorch, a producer of flashlights and accessories, that’s quickly increasling their distribution in over 100 countries and they continue to expand.
It is one of the latest EDC tool of the KO FUN SERIES linked here –-> http://goo.gl/bMS0XQ

some basic information:
Steel:3Cr13
Coating:Satin finish
Functions:Bottle opener,Screwdrivers,Wrenches,Rope cutter
Dimensions:82mmX36mmX3mm
Weight:28g

Construction quality:
It seems to be brilliantly built and the kind of steel used is a Chinese Stainless steel that is similar in quality to 420J2 (AUS 4) stainless steel.
The following formula is a break down in the steel: Around 13% chromium and 3% carbon. It has a HRC of 52-55 making it relatively soft.

PROS:

- IMHO the best looking tool of the KO FUN SERIES

  • useful but still with nice and creative design

CONS:

  • screwdriver maybe isn’t in the best position

Final thoughts and why you should buy it:
There are lots of similar EDC tools in the market, but it’s difficult to find some well designed item and for what i’ve seen until now most of them suffer from low quality steel used or FLUCTUATING BATCH QUALITY…… so every time you buy theb it’s like to play a lottery!
NexTool price is certainly a little higher compared to other not branded items/competitors, but this is what you have to pay to receive a great product from a reliable company, which is designing innovative products.

Thanks for reading……

I don’t get what it is good for.

hm.

1) opening a BEER up.
2) 3 or 4 little hex nut sizes.
4) a tiny little screwdriver.
5) a really big glowing write up on it.

my sneaking suspicion? is that “EDC” is becoming as prevalent as “tactical” as a marketing buzzword…

that said? i am mildly impressed by the “steps” that fit around some small metric hex nuts… i just question the overall utility of having the tool need to be FLAT around the hex nut to work… most small hex nuts need the “thrust” of a screwdriver to get into the tight place they are located.

if i take the “opening a beer up” out of it as a required function of the tool? i find a tiny screwdriver with a few well chosen bits inside the handle would probably do more in my mind.

Hahaha a little seahorse now that is funny design.

We have a credit card sized thingy like this in all our wallets
And it proves to be useful
When I have to hold a but at a backside of something I use it for example
The price was about $1 and it is worth it
I can’t find the price for this little horse but I would prefer the credit card sized one since it has a flathead and a Philips screwdriver on corners so actually good to use.

But thanks for the review!
It has been a while since I read one from you, your reviews are the reason I have a grey Courui since it looked so impressive in your comparison pics.
